Is it a sin to willfully hold off confession?
Only reason I’m considering it is because I Imagined a terrible hypothetical situation (it may have been intrusive) based off me being told something I didn’t want to hear. That may have involved people I know, including my priest.
I dwelled on this thought for a few seconds, then got rid of it after I had the whole ‘what I’m I thinking this is awful!’ thought in my head. I didn’t want this thought and I hate it. It just kind of popped in, and I may have sort of consented to it, or willfully brought it on. I’m not sure though. As soon as my full conscience told me what I was doing I got rid of it, if I can remember correctly. And I know I have absolutely zero intentions to act out on these thoughts. I understand this thought is likely a Mortal Sin.
However the only reason I’m thinking of holding off confession is because I’m going to see a psychologist tomorrow about my OCD and thoughts, so I can know for certain if this wicked thought is intrusive or not, and how I can tell in the future or if it’s a normal thing to happen.
I also want to know if this was my thought, because as of now I’m quite scared to tell my priest, as he may misunderstand me, and think I want to harm him or others. (Which I know for certain I do not)
But I guess my main question is, can I willfully hold off confession until I see the psychologist? After today the soonest I can go to confession will be Tuesday evening.
