Hello,

I have recently been looking for Traditional orders, parishes, churches, etc. in order to nurture the Traditional faith inside me. Now that I have thought I have found one, it may be out of reach. I fear that a Traditional Church that I have found, and that I WANTED to attend may be too traditional and out of communion with Rome.

The Order that runs the Church is the “Third Order of Penance of Saint Dominic”. Also called the “Willing Shepherds”. I am not sure what to do at this point. I really believed they could have been the safe exit and a sanctuary to “my kind” of Faith. They were made in 1999.

Here is their ‘about us’ page:

Any information is much appreciated, thank you.

PS, sorry if this was posted incorrectly

One thing I find conspicuously absent is any mention of the Archdiocese (other than the closing date of Sacred Heart church), or even of PP Benedict XVI, nor do I see anything about the community having been canonically erected. (I also don’t see that parish on the lists of “approved” EF parishes, but that could be an oversight.) Taken together, it looks like it might be some sort of “independent” parish & community. Then again, it could all just be because they didn’t bother to include that information on their web site. Perhaps you might want to give the the Vicar General’s office a call to find out for sure.

Let’s see . . .

Long, rambling page complaining about the Novus Ordo? Check.

Link to sedevacantist “bishop” Robert McKenna’s organization? Check.

The following admission?
The position “sedevacantism” simply means that in good conscience, we view the Chair of Peter as if it were temporarily vacant.
Check.

Statement from the Archdiocese of Boston confirming that:
The Willing Shepherds of Jesus Christ is not a Roman Catholic organization. The Willing Shepherds of Jesus Christ organization is in no way associated with The Roman Catholic Church, The Catholic Order of Preachers (the Dominicans) and the Roman Catholic Third Order of Saint Dominic. The Willing Shepherds of Jesus Christ organization has no ecclesial sanction from the Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI, or from the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Boston, Cardinal Seán P. O’Malley, OFM Cap.

The Roman Catholic faithful should know that participation in religious services or catechetical activities organized by the Willing Shepherds of Jesus Christ is not recognized or authorized by the Roman Catholic Church.
Check.

My fears confirmed. Thank you I suppose…
