Would you support sacrificing a good portion of your income if it meant promoting social justice worldwide? I would feel it to be my religious duty.
You jumped my intention for this thread. I certainly cannot answer your questions, but I’m a firm believer that with God’s grace and spirit, people can come together to successfully address these and other similar issues. What exactly is “social justice” and who defines it and its goals and ends?
So, are you doing it?Would you support sacrificing a good portion of your income if it meant promoting social justice worldwide?** I would feel it to be my religious duty.**
I’m not really talking about Greece and Spain, but third-world countries where there is daily hunger. You mean, would I sacrifice personal income to bail out Greece and Spain? In as much as I’m part of the U.S. economy I’ll probably have to anyway.
Yes, I’d be willing to sacrifice to help them. In a way, that’s what charities like Food for the Poor are all about.I’m not really talking about Greece and Spain, but third-world countries where there is daily hunger.
As a person of third world country, I know that we should not give food or money to anyone, rather than we should help people for their development. Also our religion teach us like that.Yes, I’d be willing to sacrifice to help them. In a way, that’s what charities like Food for the Poor are all about.
But long term, the best way to help the poor of third world countries is to get them on a path toward national prosperity, and that would require the promotion of free markets and free trade. If a government is so designed as to keep its people in poverty, they will stay in poverty no matter how much aid is given.
I would be willing to send them seeds. But not food or money.I’m not really talking about Greece and Spain, but third-world countries where there is daily hunger.
It’s a compilation of bits and pieces of some of the more recent Papal Encynicals. It was put together by the USCCB, as a guide to help Catholics in the voters booth. What exactly is “social justice” and who defines it and its goals and ends?
