I have been struggling with Will power lately. My days usually start off with me waking up around 8am, but remains in bed until 10am. I lay there rolling back and forth thinking about how my life is not like others how I must be being punished for many sins I’ve committed, how going to reconciliation and communion does not seem to be assisting me, how I could have been a better boyfriend to my former girlfriend, what I would do if my parents weren’t here, what it must have been like to be my younger brother growing up with how poorly treated, how my Dad has cancer and my parents are 66 but both still working, how I’m not the ideal son, the list goes on and on. Sometime I enter into a fantasy dream world, with random things happening in it that does not necessarily make sense to me, but it is relieving to be in a far off land until I realize I’ve wasted more time lying around. I’m trying to figure out a passion or a hobby but nothing of value comes to my mind. I pray when I can pause my thoughts to reflect back to God, sometimes I will ay the Mary Untier of knots prayer. I need help can anyone out there assist me with some ideas if they have been where I am. I’m becoming more and more isolated.

Greetings Timothy… I would suggest you begin with getting out of bed at a reasonable time. Too much sleep can lead to depression. Getting fresh air and exercise are great for clearing out the cobwebs(negativity). I can attest to this personally. Fresh air does wonders for the mind. Others have noted in other threads to begin volunteering somewhere-this helps us to not contract into ourselves but to expand and be a good member of the community. Helping others doesn’t just help the other it helps us as well. More than we can tell.
May you be filled with loving kindness. May you be well. May you be peaceful and at ease. May you be happy. Stay safe.

We cope with willpower on different levels, especially if one is depressed and has lost momentom.
You can forget about worrying about sin, this will not help in your circumstance. Do you have access to the sacraments? If not, don’t start counting sins.

By working or sorting your life out, will be your form of prayer.

So if people ignore you, think of this as redemptive, and not punishing.

You can find free counsel at a church, keep yourself accountable. But also don’t let others words get you down, be optimistic.

Reading is one good hobby. Another is making cord rosaries or other kinds.

There is volunteering…with animals, adults, elderly, children, sick…

I remember when I lived in the US, my city had a volunteer place. They helped place me. They asked questions and helped me determine where I belonged.

One can teach someone how to read, or volunteer at a hospital, nursing home.

Think of the spiritual and corporal works of mercy, giving food to the hungry, drink to the thirsty, visiting the sick, imprisoned, etc. There is also the environment.

The church also needs all kinds of volunteers to clean, help with funerals and other events.

Prayer can help fill time in a positive way.

Check if your city has a volunteer organization and go in and fill out a questionaire to see what you like.

One can take a class.

Exercise is a good idea and helpful for getting out of depression. If it still continues, best to talk to someone about it, a professional, your doctor, first, to rule out a physical cause.

Oh, I forgot to add a link for making rosaries. I started with a sister who taught me and later got my own supplies at Our Lady’s Rosary Makers. olrm.org/
