Dang it, I missed them again! Aarrgghh!!! I have decided many times to observe them, I look up the dates, and then get busy and forget. I have generally tried to eat less during Advent and to avoid overeating, but I really feel the need to fast more often.

I have the prayer book Blessed Be God, which I love. At the beginning of the book it has the rules of Fast and Abstinence. Even though the laws of Fast and Abstinence have been mitigated, it’s still a good idea to privately observe them. This year, I fasted and abstained on Dec. 7th, since it’s the Vigil of The Immaculate Conception and it was really beautiful.

Thank you OP for the link to all the great info about Ember Days. Very helpful. God bless you. 😃

Avila123 and PJM, thank you for the sites. What excellent history! I like the following Latin: Sant Crux, Lucia, Cineres, Charismata Dia Ut sit in angaria quarta sequens feria.

In the Anglican Church they were this past Wednesday Dec 18th, Friday the 20th and Saturday the 21st. Many Seminarians and Priests reporting to their Bishops, much prayer for vocations and strength for current clergy.

Great question as many do not know what they are.

The Winter Ember Days will be occurring.
They will be the Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday after the Feast of Saint Lucy (December 13th).
