Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Ah, the Wisdom God gives to His Saints in every age! A friend of mine sent me these words of St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta, excerpted from a book entitled “Manual for Eucharistic Adoration”:
“I worry some of you still have not really met Jesus—one to one—you and Jesus alone. We may spend time in the chapel—but have you seen with the eyes of your soul how He looks at you with love? Do you really know the living Jesus—not from books but from being with Him in your heart? Have you heard the loving words He speaks to you? Ask for the grace; He is longing to give it. Until you can hear Jesus in the silence of your own heart, you will not be able to hear Him saying ‘I Thirst’ in the hearts of the poor. Never give up this daily intimate contact with Jesus as the real living person—not just the idea.”
— Saint Mother Teresa, p.129-30
Much of Catholic Literature available today does not seem to have the depth we need in these days. The Saints have so much more to offer, but our culture is in such a rush. Do many take time with Scripture, or the writings of the saints, or take time as St. Mother Teresa suggests here in this brief excerpt? I wonder.

Thanks for your reply, Shakuhachi,

Yes, I believe St. Teresa of Calcutta. by God’s Grace, did see in everyone the Image of God in whom we are all created. She also remembered Jesus’ words:
Whatever you do to the least of my brothers and sisters you do to Me (cf Mt.25)
May God give us all grace to learn from Jesus as St. Teresa of Avila and all the saints learned. 🙂

I agree. That is why I buy old books or read them on Internet Archive.

There are some good newer things out there though. One of my Adoration chapels has several copies of this.

It was not written by Mother Theresa, to my knowledge, but was endorsed by her and she would give copies as gifts.
The meditations on each mystery run several pages and are very deep and good.
i’m buying my own copy of this as I find it very helpful for First Saturday or when I want to do a really “deep” rosary or sometimes when I’ve been very upset over a death and am seeking some wisdom.

Thanks, Tis_Bearself, for your reply.

To be honest, “age” isn’t always a reliable criterion. 🙂 What I meant was classics written by the Saints contain the Wisdom God gave to them. Some authors often seem to lack that depth of Wisdom.

For mediation, I rely more on Scripture than any other book, but I realize certainly words from modern saints like Mother Teresa can also be helpful. Thanks again for the link. The cover picture of Mother Teresa’s hands holding her Rosary is a “meditation” in itself!
