Regarding the Wisdom of Solomon what has been said through the early fathers or even through the middle ages up till say the 1500’s about the authorship ?

I am well aware of all of the theories of authorship, dates of authorship etc. in recent times but I am not aware of what the teaching of the Church was about this from the earliest times.

I am likewise aware of the allusions, some quite strong, such as Christ teaching from Wisdom 1 and the prophetic nature of Wisdom 1 & 2. I am mainly interested in patristic understanding of its origin.

Are there any sources to help with this ?
 
Thanks. I had seen the second link you posted before but it was just the right time for me to see it again. That is one of the better lists of citations out there. I have been frustrated with the other list I have been working with and that one was what I needed.

Hey brother, you shouldn’t go beyond what is written and say that Solomon “died an unbeliever”. He may have repented for his wicked ways before he died (remember, Moses also died prematurely because of his sins, but he was still saved). Jesus said this:

“The Queen of the South will rise at the judgment with this generation and condemn it; for she came from the ends of the earth to listen to Solomon’s wisdom, and now one greater than Solomon is here.” (Matthew 12:42)
