Greetings,
As some on these forums may be aware, I have recently been discerning my vocation to the Priesthood towards the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest (ICRSS) and had a very fruitful meeting with one of their Priests a few weeks back - about the Seminary and my vocation etc.
In this meeting the Priest told me there is no real reason why (if all goes well) I cant be in the pre-formation program by September and therefore in the Seminary the September after. (The pre-formation program is for English-speaking Seminarians to basically, learn French, as well as a little Latin and Liturgy - in preparation for entering the Institute’s main Seminary in Florence, Italy - where the lessons, and all else is in French. It lasts one year, and is on top of the 7 for Priestly formation) He also put aside some of my reservations, especially concerning such a short time period of time to become sufficiently fluent in French - Basically saying it should not be a problem if one has even the basic grounding in the language (which I fortunately have).
He also recommended, to ‘get the ball rolling’ as it were, that I visit the Seminary in Italy (Gricigliano) as soon as possible - mainly to discern whether the order is right for me etc. I plan on going in February for around a week. Thankfully, living in England means the flights are very cheap if ordered now.
Please all pray for me that this goes well. I am going to phone the Priest up soon to arrange the details of the trip.
In Domino,
Nick.
