Christmas and New year are coming. I remember when I was kid, my mom wanted me to wish my grandmother to have a long life - that is how almost all kids, in my country, said to their loved ones on new year day.
What good is a long life if we do not use it to advance spiritually? Sad to say, it often happens that a long life adds to our guilt and not to our amendment.
Do you wish to have a long life for yourself?

note: quote taken from The Meditation of Christ, Chapter 23, p.53

I pray to God to let me die ASAP so I can go to Him - when He thinks I’m ready.

I might especially see a person who is suffering a lot wish for a long life. As long as they are here on Earth, they can still merit. So they could wish for the opportunity to merit more so they can apply it to others. I can understand a wish like this.

Perhaps consider this from Philippians 1
21 For to me life is Christ, and death is gain. 22 If I go on living in the flesh, that means fruitful labor for me. And I do not know which I shall choose. 23 I am caught between the two. I long to depart this life and be with Christ, (for) that is far better. 24 Yet that I remain (in) the flesh is more necessary for your benefit. 25 And this I know with confidence, that I shall remain and continue in the service of all of you for your progress and joy in the faith,

I do not askfor a long life but one where God’s will do the best to bring the most peole to Him.

God bless

As a younger man (I’m still quite young I hope :)) I felt tremendous affinity with the sentiments expressed by Peter Pan when he stated: "to die would be an awfully big adventure".

Since I was blessed with a wife and four wonderful children, I have started to fear death. Now, I’m pretty terrified to be honest. I guess I’m scared that I wont die fulfilled. I feel like life is a test, an adventure, and given enough time I will be able to work it out to the extent where when I do die, I will not fear, I will hold Jesus’ hand and walk into the next life and into the arms of all those loved ones who have gone before me.

I am aware that I make tons of mistakes right now, too many 😊 . My brain convinces itself of this that and the other thing that justifies my sin. Like the Psalm says:

For troubles without number surround me;
my sins have overtaken me, and I cannot see.
They are more than the hairs of my head,
and my heart fails within me. ~Psalm 40:12

I feel a great sorrow at the love of my LORD and my inadequacies. I know they are mine, I see the choice before me; life and death, and yet I find myself choosing death…Justifying that death, finding a reason not to dwell with the LORD even though my heart only sings when I live with him. My prayer is that I live long enough to gain the wisdom and faith to overcome my humanity and become truly a son of the living GOD!

Pray for me brothers and sisters!!

I know people that are very old but have had what seems a short life and others who are young who have had a long life.

Time passes quickly when we are happy and seems to drag on when we are unhappy. So that the happy person gets a short life but the sad person has a long life.

In this case, I think it is better to have a short life.

The only time I really feared death was when my children were young. The idea of not being there to raise them and guide them was more than I could bear.

But they grew up to be wonderful women, worthy to raise wonderful children in their own right. I am so proud of them, and thank God for how He shaped them, sometimes through me and many times in spite of me. 😉

And now . . . I can’t say I am ready to embrace death. And I certainly would not want to die before my mother, that would be just too awful for her. But otherwise . . . well, it’s okay. I know my God awaits me . . .

Sometmes, I am just very tired of this path of life. But I’ll plug along as long as He wants me to do so.

Pray to live a good life, more than a long life.

If you live a long life, but lose your soul due to sin, what good is that? It would have been better had you never been born. If you life just 10secs, but its a grace filled 10secs and you spend eternity in heaven, you are more blessed than if you had lived 100years.

Let us live that second which is now, with Jesus on our mind so that if this is the last then it is how God wished it to be before time was.
So then we go back to our maker for eternal joy with no sorrow no tears no regrettes, no dissapointments. But to love for love is who we came from in the begining.

Godbless
