i would just like to say to all the muslim members on this forum,i wish you well during ramadan… 🙂

I second that. And I know how much more difficult this is during the summer months…so be well!

Yep, may they all reap the blessings that the holy month brings.

On a sidenote, my favourite restaurant closes during Ramadan so my lunch breaks will be gloomier 😦

And not just that, it’s a strict fast (while the sun’s up). I thought I had it bad on Ash Wednesday when I felt a bit woozy around lunch. You see, I went with no breakfast because I wouldn’t know what a “small meal” is, then didn’t have a chance to eat a small lunch until almost 1. I honestly don’t think I could make it some days if I fasted like you guys do during Ramadan.

So yes, happy Ramadan to all the Muslim members of this forum.

Oh yes I agree. I skip lunch and it’s a tragedy. I’m amazed at how they do it. Many a time I’ve played football with my fasting teammates in the searing heat, for 90 mins!

But may the Muslims so afflicted with war join in peace to find their way through the cruelties inflicted by those who've turned to violence, who use their religion, Christian, Jewish, or Muslim to excuse their deeds.
This is certainly the wish of the Holy Father, who established good relations with the Muslim community in his archdiocese.

Right, but compared to “Two small meals which may not add up to a normal meal, in addition to a single regularly sized meal,” that’s a long time to go without food. Especially those posters here who can barely make it past lunch.

I decided this year to follow basically that regimen for Lent, which I found a bit difficult at first, but very sustainable in conjunction with prayer & dailt mass. The benefits that come when we stop indulging the flesh – and we don’t even see, in the US, that what we consider a normal diet is tremendously indulgent – are immeasurable.

Thank you! 👍
The man who washes my car reminded me of Ramadan. He said it was a 15 hour fast. All I could say was " May God bless you." Probably not an appropriate response however it is what blurted out of my mouth.

the trick is to wake up 1 hour before dawn and cook up a satiating meal to keep us fuller longer.
