Last night my friends and I went to an event called Witches Night Out, in a neighboring town. It’s a touristy area that has a lot of small, quaint shops and dining. The event called for participants to dress up in witches costumes and they had a scavenger hunt where we searched for “body parts” (glow in the dark plastic hands, dog bones etc) in the stores, music, shopping, food, kettle corn, contests etc.

The event was tons of fun for us, but I wondered if it’s something some priests would object to?

Any more sensitive (few, I guess) may object, but I do not see any objectionable part.

I’d forgotten to mention that there was also supposed to be a psychic there somewhere, too, but we didn’t see her.
Now, if you had consulted the psychic, that would be different. But as it is, it sounds like some harmless Halloween fun.

Just wondered if it would’ve been considered glorifying the occult.
Yeah well I spent last night formulating a trading card deck that centered around stitched up zombies (and a giant, magically mutated iguana). I doubt the devil is gonna be knocking on my door, so to speak.

You need to realize that there’s a difference between glorifying what’s real and what is just simply a mockery of what’s real, a caricature.

Well, the way all of us in our group saw it was just plain old fun, nothing occultish about it. I was just wondering if my pastor would see it the same way.

Even if he did have something negative to say, that doesn’t count. I’ve read about a lot of priests here who use their priestly authority to say things that aren’t true.

I have no plans to bother him with this. He’s not aways very patient.
