Perhaps you could show us one scripture in the Bible where anybody:
  1. Called uninvited on the home of an unbeliever or
  2. Was instructed to do so.

CARose,

If you really would like to share your faith, mabe you might consider in trying to do what these faithful witnesses do. Take your bible and go door to door. See how long you last.

Eliza aka Karen,
Welcome to the forums! I believe you are the first Jehovah’s Witnesses I’ve ever seen post here. I would love to ask you some questions about your faith if you don’t mind?

One question that I’ve been wondering about for awhile is the prophecy made by the Watchtower Society way back around 1925 that the generation that saw the events that took place in 1914 “would not pass away.” I believe it was printed on the inside cover of the Watchtower Magazine. That “generation” refered people born around 1900 - (they had to be of an age to recognize the conditions of the world before 1914 and the changes afterwards when Satan was cast down to the earth.) OK, so according to my math, the people born in 1900 are now 105 years old. They have passed away. Which means that prophecy did not come true. How does the Society now feel about that prediction - especially in light of the very grave warning that God gives about false prophets in Duet. 18:20 - 22. ??

Apparently, and fortunately for you, you’ve never looked at any of their books; yes, the reward ***is ***a nice plot of land with a garden. Also a pet lion.
What the hell am I going to do with a lion? :whacky:

I was asking the same thing, except for me it was what was I going to do with all those vegetables!!

witness to jw’s. first find a brick wall, then commence to bang your head against it. that will get more results. if you read the jw bible, you will find that has been re written… … Jesus died not on a cross, but on a stake. (huh))??? stick a crucifix in a jws face and watch what happens

The way to deal with Jehovah Witnesses when they come to the door is to either not answer the door or else tell them to get lost and never come back.

I:whistle: Just tell them (very emphatically) that you have your own faith, you are a Catholic, and have no desire to change.

Sometimes you have to politely close the door on them. There’s no use in trying to share your faith with them because they are not interested in anything other than JW and they are very skilled at what they do.

According to the pictures, hug him. (lions are always pictured as males)

Eat them, because you certainly aren’t going to eat the huggable lion, are you?

jjwilkman has brought up the question of the cross vs. the torture stake (“torture stake” is how the New World Translation translates the Greek word stauros, translated as “cross” in other Bibles) . It needs to be pointed out that there is scriptural evidence to support that Jesus died on a cross, rather than on a stake or upright pole. Consider:

John 20:25 Unless I see in His hands the imprint of the nails, and put my finger into the place of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not beleive.
Note - the Witnesses teach that Jesus was put to death on an upright stake and that his hands were nailed together over his hand. Their illustrations show one nail being used. How is it, then, that Thomas used the plural “nails” above? Isn’t that more in line with two nails, as in hands outstretched on a cross?

Matthew 27:37 And above His head they put the charge against Him which read “This is Jesus the King of the Jews”.
**Note - **Here it says that the sign that was nailed above Jesus was nailed “above his head”. But yet, illustrations showing Jesus being put to death on a stake show the sign above his hands. Isn’t the above statement in Matthew more in line with his hands being outstretched, as on a cross?

Even if it is agreed that Jesus died on a cross rather than a stake, the charge is laid against Catholics that the use and display of crucifixes is wrong. It is said that it is disrespectful or dishonors Christ to show him that way. But consider what Paul says:

1 Corinthians 1:23 …but we preach Christ crucified, to Jews a stumbling block and to Gentiles foolishness
1 Corinthians 2:2 - For I determined to know nothing among you except Christ and Him crucified.
Galatians 3:1 You foolish Galatians, who has bewitched you, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was publicly portrayed as crucified?
Note: In the scripture from Galatians, Paul says that Christ was “publicly portrayed as crucified”. Could it be that Paul actually used some sort of visual aid in his preaching? The language doesn’t seem to rule it out. Either way, it can be seen that Paul put a great deal of emphasis on the crucified Jesus. And if Paul is said to “publicly portray” Christ as crucified, are Catholics to be faulted for doing so also?

🙂

I don’t think I’d do very well simply dropping by people’s places uninvited. It must be a daunting task. I applaud you for doing it, and hope that you waken people to their need to better know and understand their bible and the Love Christ has for them.

Personally, my understanding of scripture is that we are called to be able to answer when asked why we love Christ, and then we are to answer with great patience and charity. I’m trying to learn how to do this. In learning how to answer questions about my faith, Christ is leading me to a deeper, richer understanding of his love for me.

God bless you for coming here.

Great post Misty.
I’ve posted this elsewhere but here goes - it has to do with the question of whether or not Jesus is the archangel Michael.
The scriptures clearly state that Jesus is not an angel:

Hebrews 1:5-6 For to which of the angels did He ever say “You are my son, today I have begotten you?” And again , “I will be a father to Him, and He shall be a Son to me”? And when again He brings the firstborn into the world, He says, " And let all the angels of God worship Him."
**Hebrews 1:13 **But to which of the angels has He ever said, “Siot at my right hand until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet”?

Worship of angels is prohibited in Colossians 2:18, but Jesus accepts worship (John 20:28, etc.)
My experience with them is thet they have an answer for everything. Sometimes two or three answers.
