I have a very strained relationship with my MIL. There are so many weird components, I find it hard to discribe the situation. For instance, I’ve noticed she won’t let me serve her food, like yesterday we were having cake and she wouldn’t let me serve her a slice but it’s OK if my husband handles her food. She gives me a cheek to cheek hug but won’t kiss my cheek. Note: I do bathe daily and wear deodorant and my house is considered immaculately clean. She has loads family pictures but none of me are displayed. She always has detracting comments about her son-in-law so I wonder what is said about me to others when I’m not around.
I have tried to handle it many different ways over the 25 year we’ve been married but the relationship is cordial at best. I just wish I knew why she seems to dislike me and I can’t figure it out. It causes me a lot of grief because she seems so thrilled with her son and his sister. She talks constantly about their childhood and it almost is if she sees me as a peson who broke up her family. another wierd thing she named them the male and female version of the same name , like john and johnette I think thats a little weird too. Any comments ?
