Wives, what do you do for your husbands to make them excited to come home after work?

Actually, I have been here for longer than my date, I just had to change my name from 3blessings to 4blessings. I understnd how the forum works, but sometimes things still dont come out the way they are intended because of the lack of expression in the written word. Again, I am sorry if you were offended.
 
Okay, I have it easy! My hubby is a truck driver and after two weeks on the road, he’s always glad to come home!

However, I still try to make it special for him. Make him lots of tea (he’s British and loves his tea), clean house, try to cook for him rather than eating out, just spend time together. Every time he comes home is pretty special since we have so little time together.

Well, what about women who work and their husbands are housepersons and look after the children…? Mayby it’s not very common but it happens 🙂

Dinner’s usually cooking and almost ready, (roast and veggies in the oven as I type this.) When I’m being a better wife, I tidy up the house right before he gets home and get the kids to put away their stuff. If we tidy earlier, its messy again unless I make the children stay outside. I also like to freshen up a bit. .

I’m sure househusbands could find plenty of tips on this thread…tidy up the house…have a nice dinner ready…freshen up with a pretty dress and a bit of lippy… 😛

My DH (He is English) prefers me without make-up. I am an American. He does not like the “done up” look on women he thinks it looks unnatural.
 
I learned a long time ago, to be a good listener when my husband comes home from work. I work also, but I get home a few hours earlier, as he works nights at times. I used to bombard with all kinds of things that happened that day, and it would always lead to strain between us. I read a book that talked to how men like to unwind and not have a lot of chatter as soon as they walk through the door…unlike me…I could talk all day long!😊 😃

This has transformed so much for us…and I also, if I take the kids out to dinner or cook something on nights he works, to have something prepared for dinner…awaiting him. He also does the same for me, when he has a day off, and I walk through the door.

I would highly suggest not bringing up the day’s events (unless of course dire!) until your hubby gets a chance to relaaaaaxxxx. Then, after about 30 minutes…he should be all ears.👍
 
Have not read the whole thread…

I tell him I will be dressed in heels and a short, silky chemise. That usually gets him runnin’ home! 😉
 
My DH works from home 3 d and travels 2 d most weeks. Here’s what I do –
  1. Always greet him with a smile and a hug
  2. Try to run a brush through my hair and maybe change into an unstained t-shirt before he comes down/home
  3. Put on nice relaxing music and tidy the family room. It seems to change everyone’s view on the world, esp. my 2 & 4 yr olds.
  4. Have dinner cooking, preferably nearly done, and the table set.
It’s just my way of saying - hey babe, I love you and I love what you do for our family, and we are so glad to see you and just want you to relax and enjoy what you work so hard for every day.

I know he likes it because I can see it in his eyes 👍

That sounds so nice. Sigh. I wish I was married. One more year - my boyfriend and I are waiting one more year. Sigh.

All in due time…a year can drag though when you’re anticipating something awesome like marrying the man of your dreams…Hang in there, JW. It will be worth the wait.

Ahh, the thing is to learn to like football. I did a few years ago after being a football widow for a long time. You know something, it is an exciting game. Now I watch more games than he does and love it…but he thinks I watch it because the players where tight pants.

Thankfully, DH is a basketball fan, mostly college though he is a Celtics fan so he has had domination of the remote lately. I don’t mind - all of my shows are done 😉
