Dear Brothers and Sisters,

If Wk 1 is the hardest for me, then I must say, Wk 2 is the easiest! :). In True Devotion, St. Louis de Montfort wrote:
  1. Each day of the second week they should endeavour in all their prayers and works to acquire an understanding of the Blessed Virgin and ask the Holy Spirit for this grace. They may read and meditate upon what we have already said about her. They should recite daily the Litany of the Holy Spirit and the Ave Maris Stella as during the first week. In addition they will say at least five decades of the Rosary for greater understanding of Mary.
Today’s Feast of Our Lady of Kibeho may be new to some on this Forum, but it it an approved apparition to three young girls in Africa. I first learned of this appartion by reading a small paperback entitled: Our Lady of Kibeho: Mary Speaks to the World from the Heart of Africa.

In that book I learned that Mary revealed herself as “Mother of the Word”. How beautiful that title was to me, and continues to be, as I begin today again to ask the Holy Spirit to give me a greater understanding of Mary through the praying of the Rosary and by remaining in God’s Word revealed to us in Scripture, Tradition, and the Magisterium of the Church. The Word was Made Flesh and dwelt among us – first as conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary.

Today we traditionally pray the Glorious Mysteries, and though the husband of Mary is not usually included in the Glorious Mysteries, sometimes I do think of St. Joseph in pondering Mary’s Assumption – for that must have been very special to them both : to see one another in Glory! It is easier to remember St. Joseph in the Joyful Mysteries as he is mentioned in the Gospels of Matthew and Luke, but I also think of him in the Sorrowful Mysteries and Luminous mysteries too.

It is no wonder that Mary has urged us in her apparitions to pray much and especially the Rosary! As we continue this week, let us earnestly strive to be docile to the Holy Spirit in our prayer. To pray with attention and devotion.
