Original sin threw a lot of things out of whack. “In pain you shall bring forth children” doesn’t just apply to actual childbirth. It isn’t liberating to ignore biology, which is something a lot of feminists excel at. What feminists have realized is that the work-world really is geared for men; or people who aren’t the primary child-care deliverers. Where they go wrong is to ignore or override biology. There’s a reason working women tend to have fewer or no children. Some women really are incapacitated by their biology, though that’s not the majority.

I think if we’re going to inculcate a culture of life, respecting woman’s biology is a great place to start. Women do have abortions because their employers won’t put up with their biology, or because it physically interfered with work. I thought this was obvious, so I’m not meaning to lecture. Maybe I’m sensitive to this because of the nature of my volunteer work. Maybe I would feel different if I weren’t the primary child-care, and could leave for work everyday. If I were a single career woman, I know I’d have not a clue, and not be sympathetic. Because I had no clue.

All this reminds me of the “man-cold” skit. Very funny two minutes.

Lol. I figured he would. And I’m certain it’s not true of him.

The other day, someone said that at work, two people were holding a grudge against this lady because she would be on a week’s maternity leave. I asked if they were guys who said this. They were. I said maybe they would be up and ready to go if they had episiotimied rumpuses (rumpii?), but I doubted it. There wasn’t any immediate deadline, either. I think they thought she should just get over it, lol.

I got mastitis pretty quickly though. I didn’t realize that the fevers and chills I was feeling weren’t normal.
 
One last clarification.

I certainly do not speak for all women. Most are perfectly competent during pregnancy. (Not all have to worry about vomiting on the drive in to work, on the freeway.) They’re rock-stars, in my mind.

I’m only speaking from experience with abortion-minded women. And we simply don’t know if the pregnant woman on the street is abortion-minded or not. Sympathy is not the same thing as infantilizing. A little kindness can go a long way towards helping the woman feel she’s not alone, especially in our schizoid culture when it relates to children. If it were a cake-walk, we wouldn’t have counselors coaching women that they can, in fact, do this. That’s all I’m really trying to say.

Nah, you know me. I thought it was funny. I often am known for saying " this is as sick as I have ever been" every time I get a cold. But I get the shaft all the time because of our unique situation. I take care of my wife and the kids when they are sick. But no one takes care of me! I’m not allowed to be sick! What I wouldn’t give to stay in bed all day without the kids in the house like when my wife calls in sick. Or sit in my own puke while watching 900 episodes of Dora like the kids when they are sick. But alas, soup will not cook itself and Clorox does not clean the bathroom by itself and the laundry does not fold itself.

Nothing says your life is in the dumps than cleaning up your own vomit knowing full well everyone else will get sick before you get better and you will be cleaning up thier vomit too!

That was the girliest whiniest post I have ever written.
