Woman arrested in Poland over posters of Virgin Mary with rainbow halo

A woman has been arrested on suspicion of offending religious sentiment, after posters bearing an image of the Virgin Mary with her halo painted in the colours of the rainbow flag appeared in the city of Płock in central Poland.

The Polish interior minister, Joachim Brudziński, announced on Twitter on Monday that a person had been arrested for “carrying out a profanation of the Virgin Mary of Częstochowa”.

A Płock police spokeswoman confirmed a 51-year-old woman had been arrested over the alleged offence. The woman had been abroad, but upon her return, the police entered and searched her home, where they found several dozen images of the Virgin Mary with the rainbow-coloured halo.

I’ve seen a lot worse, not sure if this is “Catholic News” or “World News”.

Maybe we are the ones who have become too liberal.

Good for Polland imho to protect the Christian symbols and Mary’s image. Yes the rainbow has biblical significance also, after the flood a rainbow appeared and that represented God’s promise to people that another flood will not happen. But now it means something else. Either the lady just tried to push back to the original meaning or she is deluded and wants the all liberal meaning attached to.Mary.
When I saw some villagers in Polland burning a Judas puppet I did not like it. It had a lot of hatred for Jews vibe to me.
But when the priest burned Harry Potter and Twilight books I felt inspired to just throw away my Twilight and other even worse books (like The Blue Bloods that offend Archangels.Gabriel.and Michael in a twisted plot). I just feel freer from giving those up. But it’s a personal choice of any Christian not to be imposed on anyone. I don’t support.use of force. If you like the books then okay. But I was feeling guilty for liking them so much so it was best to just move on.
 
Our Lady of Czestochowa is considered a Polish national treasure. You don’t mess with that image in any way, shape or form. The lady obviously did this for attention, knowing it would cause outrage.
 
I take it Fr. Martin is not going to be going on a book tour of Poland any time soon. He probably swings by Doylestown pretty regularly though.

Thing is, the real, God-designed rainbow has seven distinct hues. This one, clearly, only has six. It is a mockery of God’s design, His holy covenant. Indeed, it means something else.

According to tradition, it was painted by the Apostle Luke. The Apostle who tells us the most about our Holy Mother. 🙏📿
