how sad, I pray that she really needed the money for something truly important like rent, food, or medical.

I don’t know how that didn’t bother her, unless she is not Catholic/Christian.

But, as some would say, if you are willing to do that, maybe you really need the money. Doesn’t make it right, but who knows what is going through her mind, or happening in her life.
