She tries to use the OT to say that God does not forbid multiple wives, She is a fallen away Catholic who often quotes protestant preachers and has been courted by the LDS.
I am praying for her return to the Faith and of course getting free of this awful situation.
Do you have any references that I can give her to help her see the fallacy of her interpretations of the bible?

Gn. 2:24 Therefore a man leaves his father and his mother and cleaves to his wife, and they become one flesh.

Mt. 19:6 “So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man put asunder.”

The Church interprets these verses, in the light of Christ, as the symbolism of God’s fidelity with his redeemed people. As God is faithful to one bride, so the bride is faithful to one Spouse. Multiple wives was never God’s plan. God created Adam and Eve not Adam and many women to be his wives. Those who married more than one wife had many difficulties, as the stories about their lives clearly shows us. It’s not the divine plan, but the weakness of man that allowed men to have multiple wives.

“Thou shalt not commit adultery”.

It doesn’t matter if men of the OT had multiple wives, because polygomy is illegal now, so there’s no way on God’s green earth that she’s “married” to him legally or sacramentally. [Unless shes in some dodgey cult].

What’s she’s doing isn’t just sinful, its hurtful and destructive to all those involved, what about this man’s wife, does she know abotu this? if she doesn’t then how can this adulteress think she’s “another wife”?
