Ooooooh I found it! The blog post by Dale Price, that is. It’s "really quite funny’’ and spot on. Go on and have a read.

We have tons of girl altar servers in my parish. It’s a large church with lots of families, lots of kids available to serve.

They usually even it out at mass (you know, 3 boys, 3 girls, whatever).
I personally don’t have a problem with it at all until the Church says it’s a problem, I guess. I do however think the boys should have first choice in the position, that is, if there is enough boy servers than they should be up there. Maybe only have girls serving if the parish is short on kids or as substitutes. That way the mass needs are being met as well as the potential vocations needs.
Just an idea. :hmmm:

I agree, that guys should be given first crack at serving, to foster vocations, then the girls can help out if there is a shortage. Wonderful idea, now sell that to the Radical feminists.

Thanks Dr. for the advice…I’ll consider it. Actually I have done it before to a few other “Pots” calling the “Kettle” black as it were…
Ummmm…yes, point taken. :o

What about now female altar boys whatsoever?? Way to go!!

PreVatican II the closest women got to the altar was that when there were absolutely no other men present[besides the priest], a woman would kneel at the altar rail and respond to the priest’s responses.

Well we don’t have this debate at our TLM, thank god.

I just thought I would point this out, he…he…

blame it on Pandora.

Fogny

I had a hard time because of the way the poll is worded. Boys are to be prefered, but girls allowed. I am not really “for” anything, but rather accept the teaching of the church and the judgement of my bishop.

It’s just another example how an exception is abused.

I am pretty sure the exception is for circumstances when there are absolutely no boys available. Such as a women’s prison etc…

If there are boys or men available then there is no excuse for using girls.
