Pro-lifers say this all the time but I can’t find statistics or a reliable source anywhere. Pro-life sources say that statistically, women are more likely to be pro-life; pro-choice sources strongly imply that normal women are pro-choice. Bandwagon effect, no? Anyway, if someone could find me a website that’s not flagrantly pro-life or pro-choice that gives some statistics or data on the matter, that would be wonderful.

well I’ve heard at least as often that it is men who are more pro-life (esp. old men, esp. old white men in priestly garments) who are “pushing” pro-life on women as part of their oppression. in actual fact the early 19th c. feminists were against abortion precisely because at that time there were no laws against it, and legally a husband had power of life and death over his unborn children and could order his wife to end the pregnancy, and this was seen as an abuse against women.

One way people justify their beliefs is when they claim “everybody believes the same as me so why go against me”?

For example, “You embarassed the whole group” one person says without bothering to ask the whole group if they really support what the person is saying.

There is strength in numbers, after all.

So personally I am highly skeptical of those kinds of claims without hard data to back them up.
