Well the only other advice I could give you is to pick up a bible. Read it a little. you will be amazed how it is still related to things today. Study the faith a little. Im sure if you did that for a year you would come back in a year and have a different attitude. To have Grace and Faith in God isnt just something you have or dont have, for a Catholic it is something you need. Without it we dont function. It is what gets us through the tough times. There are alot of people that dont believe, thats why the world is like it is today. People are lost, confused, sad. Faith and God is Hope. That is one thing every religion agrees. You put less on hope and then you get hopeless thats the devil. Satan whatever you want to call him. And where there is no God he moves in. He is the person who wants you to not believe in God. But if you have God in your life and ask him to, he will keep satan away. satan is afraid of God. Always was Always will be. IT up to you, But its like you cant have good without evil. ANd you cant have good without Jesus, and you cant have evil without satan.

Interesting. So you believe that because I’m Agnostic, does that mean that I haven’t read the Bible? Because I have. Several times. I don’t feel that the context of it appeals to me at all, and that change of attitude hasn’t occured to me yet.

“there are alot of people that dont believe, thats why the world is like it is today. People are lost, confused, sad.”

Or how the world ever has been. People were not happy in the past, especially not under The Medevial Age where everyone had faith in God. People are still unhappy in today’s society, because that’s how it always have been. To some, guidance of faith and the belief in God helps them to stop being sad or lost. But to some, it doesn’t, and they keep on feeling those feelings - non-believers and believers alike. So your argument of making the nonbelievers guilty of how the world looks is not only false but also a bit naive, if you do not mind me saying that.

“And where there is no God he moves in. He is the person who wants you to not believe in God. But if you have God in your life and ask him to, he will keep satan away.”

See, that is just a circular argument, and the only way for me to answer to it is by creating yet another circular argument, like How can you prove Satan moves in if I don’t believe in God and therefore not Satan?
You believe in Satan if you wish. I don’t. We’ll leave it at that, shall we?

“But its like you cant have good without evil. ANd you cant have good without Jesus, and you cant have evil without satan.”

There are other good and evils who aren’t within the Bible. There has been other examples during time that has shown humanity’s dark and light sides. However, I must ask you one thing: Is there such a thing as absolute evilness? Or absolute goodness? And can you prove to me that those two exists in other ways than within the Bible?

I am surprised that an agnostic has read the Bible several times. It takes quite a long time to read it once ( a few months of daily readings) while trying to understand what it says.
“But its like you cant have good without evil. ANd you cant have good without Jesus, and you cant have evil without satan.”
You cannot have evil without good because the definition of evil is simply the lack of good. You cannot have good without God but you were able to have good without Jesus (look at the whole Old Testament). You can have evil without making use of Satan. Satan is a created being like you and I, however his goal is to do evil. I can do, and sometime I do evil things without the need of Satan.

You are correct here, the story of humanity is not limited to the Bible, only the full revelation of God is limited to what is described in the Bible. Simply because of the fact we are all created in His image that we are able to explain why even people that never heard of the Bible or Christianity have a spirituality and behave properly (follow the Natural Law).
However, I must ask you one thing: Is there such a thing as absolute evilness? Or absolute goodness? And can you prove to me that those two exists in other ways than within the Bible?
I am not sure how you can describe absolute “goodness” and “evilness” and so I give you my definitions/take. You can have absolute goodness (God), and absolute evilness. Absolute evilness has been perpetrated in history simply by choosing to reject God and His law (genocide, abortion,…). Given the definition of absolute goodness (God) how do you expect a Christian to explain in a context outside the Bible. You need His full revelation to understand Him, and probably he will still be a mystery to us because of our imperfect nature.

Hi everyone.
I’m doing a research for a school project about Catholism. I’m Agnostic myself, so I’ve no clue whatsoever about certain religious and traditional things.

My question to you is: Are women allowed to be clergymen? Why/why not? I won’t accept “because it’s tradition” as an answer!
That’s your answer “TRADITION” get used to it!.

No

Because the Bible says so.

1st Timothy Chapter 2

9Likewise, I want women to adorn themselves with proper clothing, modestly and discreetly, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly garments,

10but rather by means of good works, as is proper for women making a claim to godliness.

11A woman must quietly receive instruction with entire submissiveness.

**12But I do not allow a woman to teach or exercise authority over a man, but to remain quiet.

13For it was Adam who was first created, and then Eve.

14And it was not Adam who was deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression. **
1st Timothy Chapter 3

1 This is a faithful saying: If a man desires the position of a bishop, he desires a good work. 2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, temperate, sober-minded, of good behavior, hospitable, able to teach; 3 not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for money, but gentle, not quarrelsome, not covetous; 4 one who rules his own house well, having his children in submission with all reverence 5 (for if a man does not know how to rule his own house, how will he take care of the church of God?); 6 not a novice, lest being puffed up with pride he fall into the same condemnation as the devil. 7 Moreover he must have a good testimony among those who are outside, lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.
Qualifications of Deacons

8 Likewise deacons must be reverent, not double-tongued, not given to much wine, not greedy for money, 9 holding the mystery of the faith with a pure conscience. 10 But let these also first be tested; then let them serve as deacons, being found blameless. 11 Likewise, their wives must be reverent, not slanderers, temperate, faithful in all things. 12 Let deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well. 13 For those who have served well as deacons obtain for themselves a good standing and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.

I find it interesting that you say your agnostic yet make statements as if your atheist. If truly agnostic then you need to be more open to what people say about God do more that just read the bible, study it. Pray on it be open to God. He will not hit you over the head and speak to you saying here I am believe. Not that he can not do that Just not the norm of his way. Normally just a slight tug at the heart, an almost whisper in the ear. So find a place that is really quite and listen closely. Ask (pray) him questions then listen for his answers. If you are an atheist then do all the above more strongly.

As to you Question in to begin with is a real simple answer. Just as the man is head of the family the Clergy are the head of the church. I am not saying that women are not equal to men just that each has an assigned role. i am going to stop there before I get myself in trouble with the ladies here.😃

Good luck with your school project. I also ask that you be open to finding more than just facts for school work as you do this and that after it’s over you continue to search as nothing can give you peace of heart as the Lord God can. Notice I said peace of heart not mind.

You have to remember also that unlike protestants, we believe in sacred traditions that were passed down through word of mouth, not only by the Bible. It always has struck me odd that some believe in Ghosts, or U.F.O’s but yet they reject the idea of a God. What is the difference, God HAS revealed himself unlike UFO’s. Even the Pagan tribes of africa believe that the sun and moon or wind are “god’s” You have to remember as well, the apostles Were not a bunch of Holier then thou Jews. They were sinners and skeptics yet all but St John died horrible deaths for their beliefs. I highly doubt they would die for a false Messiah.
