Women Converts to Islam...how to find a spouse?

marriage takes place when both parties agree. Forced marriage is not allowed in Islam . Specially parents of the bride must give consent . Mother Aisha (ra ) never complained against her marriage .When God asked the wives of the Prophet if they want wealth in this world & want to end their married life , it was she who first responded that I want him . So , don’t waste your time & energy for a happy couple. Many unmarried young school girls need your help ; many love childs are searching for daddy , help them.

Why you think , Jesus (p) ordered Moses (p) to kill all men but keep young virgins for soldiers ? Why Jesus (p) allowed David (p) to marry an young virgin just before he died ? You find no problem with these while reading your own holy book but u find a legal marriage unethical ?
 
You did not answer my question. When did God allow for a man to have sex with a child? Obviously God only allows such an act within marriage. Please answer my question, then I will ask you to also use citations for your claims about Jesus using the bible, and not the book you use.

Well, notsmart, your God didn’t seem to have any problem with impregnating Mary, who is usually described as being about 12 years old, or with her being married to Joseph, who was no spring chicken. So I’d lay off on the bashing. Times and mores do indeed change. Back in the day, it was very much the norm for girls to be wed and impregnated at the VERY first possible opportunity, in nearly every culture, most certainly in Western Europe where children of both sexes, especially of the upper and noble classes, might be wed much earlier than puberty.

Geeze, thanks for the news update on Mary. I did not know that one before! Its not bashing. I did not ask her what age she feels is the right age for a child to be able to consent to marriage. I asked her when God ever allowed a child to be given to a man for sex?
And, by the way I never mentioned the age of the man seeking to have the sex either. Its not relevant. What is relevant is has God endorsed a child to have sex with a man of any age?
I don’t care what other cultures did. I am asking about what God allowed.
I hope your rude reply isn’t because you did not like my posts yesterday regarding the bartenders and lawyers, and cab drivers who haul drunks around on new years.?
Times and mores are not my social curiosity here.
My question is about God’s allowance for any man to have sex with a child.

pl. give verses from your holy book where God fixed the minimum age for marriage. If u mean sex outside marriage , then I am not sure on what date He allowed it.

If u are very much interested , then ask any Priest / pastor/Christian scholar. Most probably regarding your holy book , it was during the time of Moses (p) , Jesus (p) made it lawful.

Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man.

But all the women children, that have not known a man keep alive for yourselves

We know from Sacred Tradition that the Ever-Virgin Mary gave birth to Jesus when she was 14.

By current Western Standards, she was just a child; however, God still chose her. And she accepted.

Age is relative. Our societies current standards are to forbid marriage at such a young age; however, it was not always so. Perhaps in the future it will change again.

(Personally, I hope not. I have a 14 year old daughter and would like to keep her a virgin until she marries in another 10 or more years from now.)

In the past when marriages were still “arranged” (typically with an older man and a younger girl) in the West - those marriages lasted much longer than our current marriages last in modern U.S.A. where marriage partners are chosen by the individual getting married, rather than a relative, and those marriages are based on “attraction” - more than 50% of those marriages end in divorce or annulment (or both). I think there is something to be said about “arranged” marriages.

I’m not a Catholic, but this is a Catholic website…Catholics accept the Roman Catholic Code of Canon Law as shown on the Vatican’s website: www.vatican.va - here are a few quotes:

Can. 1083 §1. A man before he has completed his sixteenth year of age and a woman before she has **completed her fourteenth year of age **cannot enter into a valid marriage.

Can. 1096 §1. For matrimonial consent to exist, the contracting parties must be at least not ignorant that marriage is a permanent partnership between a man and a woman ordered to the procreation of offspring by means of some sexual cooperation.
§2. This ignorance is not presumed after puberty.

to my best of knowledge , no holy book fixed any minimum age for marriage or put any ban on age gap between wife & husband. Hindus holy book says it’s best to give daughter in to marriage before she is 7.

It’s unfortunate that how some people love to attack a legal marriage that took place more than 1400 years ago .

I read in an article that in US , minimum age of girls for marriage was 10 only 100 years back.

In Islam , it’s absolutely ok if parents want to do that. But they must be careful so that children don’t commit any major sin i e. adultery. In that case , parents will be responsible for not arranging marriage of their adult children.

yes , it’s a good point. Now a days , divorce is becoming so common , it’s very unfortunate. Kids suffer most in those cases.
 
I’m a woman convert to Islam, with several women-convert friends, most of whom are married.

It’s not such an impossible task, really. Some relied on local networking, some relied on internet sites (for the purpose of marriage), some just meet a man somewhere and hit it off right away then get married 2 months later (once they decide they like each other they get engaged and married so there’s no real “dating.”)

And some get nice older ladies sitting beside them at the mosque, holding their hands in an iron grip, while they start talking about their wonderful son who is a doctor or whatever… and I so hate it when that happens!!

Old ladies with single sons are the same in all faiths.
