Women distributing communion

So I just got back from a daily mass , and when it’s time for communion there were 3 people (does not include the priest) distributing the Eucharist and they were all woman.
Is this normal…? I have a gut feeling this is wrong, what position does these women held?
Weren’t deaconess went “extinct” centuries ago?
Note : if I’m mistaken, please correct me.
 
I’ve seen it at every parish I’ve attended, so I doubt there’s any law against female extraordinary ministers.
 
Yes you are mistaken. I’ve seen women serving as EM’s since the 1970’s.

This is nothing new at all.
 
I’m with the others. At my parish women do most of the readings as well as distribute communion.
 
It happens in my Parish all the time. They are serving as Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist.
