Women need permission to leave the home?

Thank you, but I don’t think that answers the question. Are you claiming that women needing permission from their husbands to leave the home was at one time a matter of faith?
I would hesitate to say whether or not it is based on what your definition of faith is. I think the point about wives staying home was more a matter of an example of obedience rather than a specific commandment, especially since that section begins by talking about a wife needing to be obedient to her husband. It is not providing a definitive list of all ways a wife must be obedient.
 
I appreciate your response — but this sounds problematic. Again, how is it determined which portions of a catechism are no longer binding? Who determines what in a catechism is doctrine?
