In Paul’s Epistle to Hebrews, I know that 2 Maccabbees are citated , but who are the Females who “…received their dead raised to life again.” ? Is this refference to the mother of seven Maccabbeean brothers?

Interestingly, my NIV study bible does indeed reference 2 Maccabees 7 in the footnotes. It also cites 1 Kings 17:17-24.

That’s great! I knew the story from 1 Kings, but I never realised it is connected with Hebrews.

Thanks a lot! By the way- the above mentioned 1 Kings citate is a “destroyer” of Adventist theology that soul doesn’t leave body after death. After few lines there we read:
** And the Lord heard the voice of Elias: and the soul of the child returned into him, and he revived. **
1 Kings 17:22

As a point of information which might spare you some criticism in the future…St. Paul did not write the Letter to the Hebrews.

God bless…

Thanks. It is a controversal topic, and you probably know that a lot of people today believe Hebrews is a Pauline letter, following Origen and certain Early Churches. But this remark was a good point for my future studies. Thanks a lot!
