I think that we have no shortage of heretics who want their own way. As has been said many times, all heresy begins below the belt.

What Bishops are involved? I hope they and the women are all ex-communicated and the ex-communication is widely publicized.

Are you specifically refering to the ROMAN Catholic Church? I ask because I know that a group of Catholics who call themselves “American Catholics” (as a name - not a generic statement that they are American adn catholic) do ordain women. If it IS the RCC then  …If it is the “American Catholic Church” then I am not surprised.

They should all be excommunicated.

Especially with quotes like these:
In a further challenge to Vatican orthodoxy, the women may be married, divorced or remarried – “as long as they’re in a stable relationship or are a stable person,” said U.S. activist Judith Johnson, who is organizing the ordination… Johnson predicted that would change. “New changes don’t come very quickly. It comes from the people,” she told Reuters.

According to the article:
The movement started with the ordination of seven women on the Danube River in Germany in 2002. Two of them, Christine Mayr-Lumetzberger of Austria and Gisela Forster of Germany, will be ordaining the four priests and five deacons on the St. Lawrence. The two say they have been made bishops by Catholic bishops in good standing with Rome.
But in 2003, Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger – now Pope Benedict – excommunicated the “Danube Seven.”
It doesn’t say who ordained them, either as ‘priests’ or as ‘bishops’.

In any case, such ‘ordinations,’ if they occurred, are not only illicit, but entirely invalid. Lacking the proper matter for the sacrament, no sacrament of orders was conferred. It didn’t take.

Agreed. There are several indpendent groups that unforunately ordain women to the presbyterate, and are GLBT friendly.

The independent group I belong to and the groups we have an intercommunion with abhor ordaining women to the priesthood.

Here’s an article about it:

reuters.com/newsArticle.jhtml?type=domesticNews&storyID=8723619

Supposedly, these female “bishops” were ordained “by Catholic bishops in good standing with Rome.”
A) If this is true, then all of them, including the “Catholic bishops in good standing with Rome,” have automatically excommunicated themselves from the Church (I think the phrase is something like “latae sentia,” but I can’t remember), all of them, the “ordinands,” the “bishops,” and the theoretical bishops in “good standing” (excommunication pretty much puts you out of good standing).

B) It has absolutely no meaning whatsoever. The “matter” is the wrong substance. A bishop cannot spread his hands over a rock and salt water, say the words of consecration, and thereby confect the Sacrifice of the Mass. He also cannot ordain a woman, even were he so misguided as to attempt it or intend it.

C) It would actually be funny, except that it imperils souls.

The Holy See would be foolish to respond. All it would do would be to give this charade more publicity and encourage others. The last thing we need are some “media martyrs.”

This event has no more authority then my friends and I acting as “bishops” today at noon and “ordaining” all those who chose to eat at the Firepie Bar & Grill for lunch.

Just foolishness. The site looks like a knock-off of the DrudgeReport.

Maybe they are seeking publicity; trying to undermine the Church; or whatever. There is obviously some “alternative” agenda here.

At any rate, this is obviously not valid.

John,
Thank you for the use of your password/log in. Reading that article, it makes me wonder what these women are getting out of all of this. They say they won’t be performing liturgies (and of course, any “liturgy” they perform would be illicit), they are just going to talk to small groups. Can’t they do that without this sham ceremony?

Why is it so important to some women to be priests? As long as one can participate in Communion, that is what is important. If they can’t find spiritual fulfillment and peace in consuming the Eucharist, they’ll not likely find it anywhere. Why do they insist on being the ones doing the Consecration?

As others have asked - is this not simply women trying to compete with men? I think that women like these spend so much time trying to prove they’re “as good as men” that they miss out on becoming the best women they can be. It’s like chasing the end of the rainbow. You keep running, trying to find the end of it, and then when you get there - nothing is there. This is what these women will find in their vain pursuit of being something they are not.

A) They aren’t Catholics

B) Why didn’t they go play church with the Lutherans?

A) They aren’t Catholics

B)Another example of 20 people sitting in a garage playing church
-a quote I saw here a while back!

Look, just because they say they are Roman Catholic, or Catholics of the Latin Church, IT DOESN’T mean they are.

The headline of spiritdaily.com this morning tells about nine women being Ordained in the Catholic Church. What do you think?
Please give a link so that we can read the article for ourselves. It is probably a misunderstanding or fabrication since the Catholic Church has no authority to ordain women priests. (The responsum from the magisterium on this subject is on the Vatican web site)
