Do you guys have any quotes from Jesus forbiding women as priests? What are the proofs that the Church uses forbiding it?
 
IIRC it is not forbidden per se but the position is that the Church doesn’t have the authority to do it
 
Christ repeatedly refers to Himself in Scripture as the “bridegroom” of the Church. Adam’s bride Eve came forth from his side, and likewise did the Church itself come forth from the side of Christ on the Cross as blood (Eucharist) and water (Baptism). Revalation ends with the marriage feast of Christ and His Church. The Church is most appropriately referred to in the feminine, since She is the Bride of Christ. She is His Church, and He died for Her on the Cross in an act of infinite and perfect self-giving love. Priests are called to be representatives of Christ for us on Earth – they are also considered as being “bridegrooms” of the Church. At Mass, during the Consecration, the Priest says “This is my body…” He is clearly standing in the place of Christ to offer Him up as our own perfect Sacrifice to the Father for the forgiveness of our sins. The priesthood is an exclusively masculine role. Only a male can fulfill the role as being a valid bridegroom of the Church. It should also be noted that Christ Himself was a male, and chose all twelve of His Apostles to be men, the first priests and bishops of His Church. Women never can, and never will be ordained in the priesthood of the Catholic Church. If they so choose, they can become “Brides of Christ” by entering into the Sisterhood of Nuns. There are tons of other reasons why, but I think that’s enough for now. Hopefully that made sense. 🙂
