Women seeing each other naked

This situations occurs: a group of (young) women, went to a poor country in order to work with orphans. The accommodation was very primitive and there was one bathroom with toilet for about 8 women, which was not a luxury considering the weather outside (40 degrees) and the fact that a lot of people were having diarrhea. One of the girls suggested that, in order to save time, we just go in the bathroom together and do a kind of shower roulette. we were grown up women and we didn’t bother seeing each other naked. One of the nuns heard about this and got very upset. I don’t understand why. Was it really that bad to see each other naked for this reason? I also go to the sauna and I don’t mind if women see me naked, as long as men don’t see me.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it, but it could be against the social mores of the culture. (Is the nun a part of that culture? Or does she know it very well?) I don’t think there’s a moral wrong here, but you could be giving some people the wrong idea without knowing it.

Yep, sounds like a cultural issue. Was this one of those poor countries in which those how suffer SSAD are still stoned to death and such? If so, the nun may have been acting on her own social norms rather than considering the teachings of the Church.

I think women react to women being naked with each other differently than men being naked with each other. In general, at least in the West.

As I see it, for either sex, as long as everyone’s comfortable that way and it’s not tempting same-sex attraction, it’s no problem. The human body is God’s greatest Creation. Personally, I’m not keen about stripping down/other men stripping down at the gym/pool.

Also, if there’s a threatening, pressing need, the risk of immodesty is trivial – even in mixed groups.

But if you strip without asking, or against the comforts in one of the group, that’s rude, of course.

Since your group sounded okay with this and there was a somewhat pressing need, it’s okay.
