While a letter might be a good idea I think it would be better if you scheduled some time to actually speak with him about it rather than writting a letter.
How I would like to do that. Priests terrify me. Why? I don’t know. Maybe I think they are better than me? Which I know is wrong. I’d love to discuss loads of things with a priest and maybe even this one, but I’m not sure I’d be comfortable.

So sorry you’re having to deal with this, Amber, and sorry about some of the replies you’ve received on the thread so far.
MusicMan;5750743:
The continued suppression of women is not logical.
As a woman, I find that statement itself illogical.
Of course you do, because it is illogical. Priests being men is just the way it is, the way it always has been in the Church. Feminists choose to take this as women are being opressed or “supressed”…but they’re wrong, and it makes no sense as you rightly called it. My advice, don’t even worry about the comments from those who’ve decided they have a problem with Christ’s Church.
No. I am enjoying the responses. I consider this a good education.
😦 The OP posted a sincere request for advice and support, and she’s obviously very troubled by what’s going on at her parish. Shame on you for taking this attitude and having fun at her expense.
The priest was imprudent, but you are over-reacting.
It was more than imprudent; he was publically advocating disobedience (laity cleaning the sacred vessels) and alluding to heresy (women’s ordination). Yes, this is much, much worse than if you and I were discussing these things because this man is a priest. He should be ashamed of himself for causing scandal and upset in to his parishoners. You’re supposed to be able to trust your priest as a spiritual Father, as your local authority in the Church. Instead he’s just sowing insecurity and confusion.

Amber, I think you should bring this up to the pastor. Either personally or in a letter. If you don’t feel comfortable doing that, then contact your bishop. There are people here who are disagreeing, but trust your instincts on this one- this is serious and needs to be addressed by the proper authorites. Otherwise, he might not stop and most likely his public disobedience it will only get worse and more blatent if left unchecked.

I’m going through something similar myself at my parish so I understand how you feel. I’ll be praying about this with you.
My advice would be to write a very polite and respectful letter that explains why you felt uneasy about the homily. And be sure to sign it, otherwise he won’t take it seriously. As long as your letter doesn’t accuse him of heresy and is respectful then it will probably give him food for thought.
Good advice, Father. 🙂

I can understand this. I get this feeling from many people out there and I am only a Brother right now.

Remember, we (religious and priests) are people too, just like you.
