Cardinal Donald Wuerl announced today at the USCCB that the Ordinariate for Anglicans will be erected on January 1, 2012, the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God.

This is terrific news for all the Anglicans who have been waiting for two years, since the announcement of Anglicanorum Coetibus was made.

Our prayers go out to our Holy Father Benedict for this tremendous gift to bring Anglicans into the Church bringing their Patrimony and traditions.

The name of the Ordinariate and the Ordinary will be announced, I believe, on the same day. The first Ordinariate in England is named Our Lady of Walsingham. Many Anglicans are hoping that the name selected will be after our Blessed Mother.

Yours in the Hearts of Jesus and Mary

Wonderful news indeed, Bernadette!

I have been praying for the Ordinariates, and will keep praying! 🙂

I look forward to the contribution they will make to the richness and diversity of the Catholic Church.

Is there any indication of where the new Anglican Ordinariate parishes will be?

There are many different groups and parishes ready to enter the Ordinariate. There is a map online, you might be able to find it by looking at Google Map of parishes entering the Ordinariate. It has a map and also names of parishes.

There also other groups, I believe, that are not on the map and individuals wanting to find or start a group, which at some point would become a parish.

God Bless

Go to google maps, type in ordinariate. You will get a map and listing of all the parishes, missions and groups who are entering the ordinariate. It is a world wide map plots these groups in Canada, UK, USA and the Philippines. Roughly 147 parishes, missions and groups. Not counting Australia and the Torres Straits.

Hope this helps.
