i recently converted and am having second thoughts.

i just dont feel gods presence in my life. i have no desire to pray or go to mass anymore. i dont want to get my kids baptized.

i got my confirmation certificate and a parish registration form in the mail the other day, and i cant fill it out. i fold them both back up and put them in the envelope and filed them away in my closest.

Try to talk to your priest about the issues that you are having which make you not want to go to Mass. Maybe you need questions answered, or more prayer.

God is in no hurry. Allow Him to bring you in at the pace that is right for you.

On the other hand, when you feel an inner prompting toward commitment, don’t put it off, either. 🙂

Sometimes we get cold feet regarding radical changes in our lives.
In the Garden before He was arrested, Jesus Himself cried out, “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; yet not as I will, but as You will.” He found it difficult to face his future burden.

May I recommend that you talk to Jesus honestly about all that you feel, and put you life and that of your children into His care. Ask Him to help you. He understands. Ask Him for the gifts of faith, and of faithfulness. And give yourself time. 🙂

God bless you. You and your family are now in my prayers.
Trishie

We are praying for you and your family.

Please consider one thing: Faith is not about feelings - it’s about a search for truth and happiness. Often we deceive ourselves thinking that “feelings” will bring about happiness. However, many of the great Saints didn’t feel close to God when they were closest to him.

Seek out a good priest and share your thoughts with him. If you don’t know one - let me know and I will help find a good one.

God bless you in your search for God.

Are you still meeting with your Sponsor on a weekly basis? Maybe your Sponsor would continue to attend Mass with you and help perpare for the childrens Baptisms.

Sometimes God tests us. I think that is what He is doing to you. You see a lot of people have this feeling when it comes to religion. They feel Gods love and everything. You dont seem to have the feeling What you must realize is that He is testing you and that you must do what He wants even if you dont have the feeling. Just what God wants you to do and soon you will see what will happen.

Are you depressed about something in your life? I think you may be going through a depression. See your doctor about it.

I have a feeling that you just want to stay home and don’t have the energy to do anything because you may be depressed.

Depression is a medical problem. I have that problem and I take medication for it. If I don’t take my medication I just want to stay home and vegitate and do nothing. It’s so much fun doing nothing when I am depressed. This is why I take my medication so I can go out and do things in my life.

Maybe you need to join a Church prayer group or be active in some activity to keep you interested in church.

Sometimes some families have so many problems that they just can’t handle doing more things in their lives like planning the baptisms of your kids.

What is the real problem?

Faith is like anything else. You have to work at it and nurture it or it will die

Dear friend with Christ!

Your were intellegent enough, sufficently motivated and dedicated to get to where you are, which means you had to be walking hand and hand with your Savior, Jesus;)

So what has changed? What has changed is that Satan knows that he is on the verge of of losing another sould to Christ, which is why Satan is attacking you right now.
Code:
Heres how to defeat Satan!

1. **GO** to Confession ASAP, and discuss what you are experiencing with your priest. Beleive me, you will not be the first or only one to share this situtation.

2. Make a "Holy Hour" with Jesus, and just talk to Him. Let Him know (although He already knows, he wants to hear it from you) what your going through. Just a good heart to heart conversation. If you ask and then expect His Help, you'll get it!
  1. Know that Satan has targeted you, because of how much you love our Blessed Lord!
  2. Satan can’t over rule your freewill, and works instead on our emotions!
  3. If you have some unanswered questions about the RC Faith,
call the parish office and ask to speak to father… he’ll hear your Confession (one need not be in Mortal sin to go to Cinfession) and
allow father to answer all of your questions. It would be prudent to make a list of questions to ask Before you make the visit.
  4. Pray, pray. and then pray somemore! Know that I and others ahve already begun praying for you:thumbsup:
  5. Jesus Himself has called “you home.” You are where Jesus wants you and your family to be.

Take this advise dear friend, and you’ll be fine. Please, Do it NOW!

    Love and prayers!

Maize,

You did not make the wrong decision. You are experiencing some sort of fear and you need to listen to the little voice inside of you to try and isolate what this fear may be all about. Pray for guidance from God.

God does not want you making any decision out of fear. Your decision should be out of Joy. Crossing the threshhold of hope is a scary thing. God is with you if you have called upon His guidance and He will give you the insight and foresite to know what to do. You are in His hands and have nothing to worry about.

Great response.

It is not uncommon for new Catholics (or old ones for that matter) to slip into spiritual dryness. Newbies always come down from the high of the Easter Vigil.

Will pray for you and your family. Try and speak to your priest soon. He will guide and help you.

I agree with PJM. If you are not suffereing from depression of anxiety from another problem in your life then you are probably under attack.

Make frequent use of the Sacraments and the sacramentals such as Holy Water and the Rosary. Pray the St. Michael Prayer. Get thee to a Holy Hour in front of the Blessed Sacrament either in the tabernacle or exposed. If your church doesn’t have Eucharistic Adoration find out what parish does .

Saint Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host -
by the Divine Power of God -
cast into hell, satan and all the evil spirits,
who roam throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Just prior to Lent is a particular time of attack for many of us. The evil one wants us weak and not able to gain anything for this time. Don’t let him win.

I think most people know how you feel. Everyone goes through patches of spiritual aridity. Do yourself a favour and ride it out, as impossible as that seems to you now, it won’t be your last dry patch but there will be plenty of reward.

I posted a thread yesterday asking for advice, and was pointed to Dark Night of the Soul by St. John of the Cross. This paragraph here might help you (it’s not meant to chastise you but it is powerful):
  1. These persons, in communicating, strive with every nerve to obtain some kind of sensible sweetness and pleasure, instead of humbly doing reverence and giving praise within themselves to God. And in such wise do they devote themselves to this that, when they have received no pleasure or sweetness in the senses, they think that they have accomplished nothing at all. This is to judge God very unworthily; they have not realized that the least of the benefits which come from this Most Holy Sacrament is that which concerns the senses; and that the invisible part of the grace that it bestows is much greater; for, in order that they may look at it with the eyes of faith, God oftentimes withholds from them these other consolations and sweetnesses of sense. And thus they desire to feel and taste God as though He were comprehensible by them and accessible to them, not only in this, but likewise in other spiritual practices. All this is very great imperfection and completely opposed to the nature of God, since it is Impurity in faith.

Maize,

What denomination/faith did you convert from?
Why did you convert, or feel that you should have converted?
What affected your decision making process?
Are you a single mother?
What do you do for a living?
What is your temperament?
I have many more questions, but these are for starters… My prayers are for you, and with you.

God’s Blessings & Peace,
From a fellow Convert,
Brennan
