“The Sacred Scriptures contain the Word of God and, because they are inspired, they are truly the Word of God (DV 24)” CCC 135
If the Scriptures are “truly the Word of God”, how does that differ from the Blessed Sacrament, which is truly the Word made Flesh?
Should the Bible be treated in the same way as the Sacrament, as the literal presence of Jesus Christ our Lord?
As we are able not only to venerate but actually to worship the blessed Host as it truly is Christ our Lord and God, does the same hold true of the holy Bible?
If so, what does that mean for the way I treat my Bibles, e.g. my pocket Bible, which takes a bit of a battering at times on my travels.
