If a priest says some irregular form of prayer of absolution, not the usual, “God the Father of mercies, through the death and resurrection of his Son… etc”, but does include , “I absolve you of your sins in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit”, am I right in presuming that the Confession is valid?

As long as the essential formula is said, the confession is valid. The rest of the formula shouldn’t be messed with, but as long as the “I absolve you” bit remains, it’s fine.
