Hi,

I currently work for a trade association who represents distributors of pharmaceutical products. The manufacturers of pharmaceutical products can also be associate members of the association. We deal mostly with issues such as counterfit drugs, supply chain issues, returns etc.

The associate members (drug manufacturers) I am sure make Birth Control Pills, do genetic or stem cell research etc. I am wondering if I am doing something against God and the Church by working here…

thanks

one word, yes. any work that decays the moral of society should be examined closely. the catholic church is clear on these and similar topics.

The question begs the issue of working for someone who is a sinner. The last time I looked, that included everyone on the planet. If you are working, it is presumed that you require an income to support either yourself or others. If you don’t need to work, quit the job so that someone who needs the income can have it. If you need the income, you’re just like the rest of us working stiffs: we work with and for fellow sinners.

Thanks for your comments guys, I am going to talk to a Priest who is a Moral Theologian.

What section do you work in? Does your department have anything to do with the department that makes/distributes the birth control?

Scott,

Thanks for the reply. I work for an association like the National Dairy Association or the National Rifle Association that represents the Distributors or Wholesales of the phamaceutical products. We do not directly manufacture or sell anything. We represent the people who buy the drugs from the manufacturers and then resell them to hospitals, phamacy’s etc. I work in an administration role for the association.

thanks
