Work Six Day's and On the 7th Day Rest

What do you do when you have a lot of free time and it is not a Sunday? The Bible tells us that we are supposed to work hard each day until Sunday. However if your unemployed these days, there is not much to do really. It’s not like I have a farm that I need to work on for my family’s survival.

When one is unemployed one has a job which is to find a job. I’m sorry your unemployed, while your waiting for a job, you can do volunteer work . I wish you well.

With so few people going to church, Sunday has become the day to cut the grass. When I was a child, Sunday was quiet, not a sound could be heard. Now, forget it. The roar is constant until dark.

I miss the time when Sunday was special.

If you have a lot of spare time you could attend daily Mass. I attended daily Mass when I was working, and twice a day (mornings and evenings) now that I’m unemployed. You could also do a course of some kind that might improve your chances of employment. I have done several computer courses since becoming unemployed. You could set aside a period each day for private meditation, an excellent habit to form.

Remember, it’s not a sin to be unemployed, it all depends what you do with your spare time. And it doesn’t make people holy or any better than you just because they’re working, since most are working just for money and material goods anyway.

I would second the idea that your job now is to find a job (if you’re unemployed).

On top of that being unemployed does not mean you have to be idle! There’s so much you can do. Volunteer work. Educate yourself. Use this free time for good!!

And then, on Sunday, dedicate your time to God and to family. Even if you are relatively idle for those other six days Sunday should still be a special day for God and for those you love.
