Hello,
I’m a single 32-year-old teaching English abroad, and soon to be received into the Catholic Church. Instead of moving on to teach English somewhere else, where can I search for opportunities to serve in the Church? I mean helping the poor, for example? It’s not really an order I’m looking for, I think, just a willingness and an availability to go almost anywhere. Where might I search out any opportunities (if indeed such work is intended for one in my position)?

You can always talk to your pastor and ask him where you can help. He probably knows of several areas that could use you. The St. Vincent DePaul Society is very helpful to those in need, as is Catholic Charities. Since you are a teacher you could probably help with CCD or even adults who need help with English. If you want to do something, there are opportunites all around. Good luck to you.

Have you ever thought of teaching in a Catholic school? They are in great need of good teachers and there are many Catholic schools all over the place.

Just a thought! 🙂
