I think the reasons for the shutdown are very good ones. Experience has taught me not to agree with the premise that another forum will not have just as much reason to be shut down; I’ve come to agree with the saying, “The medium is the message.”

Also, I’ve seen some of those traditionalist forums. They try their best to poison our minds against the Holy Father, the OF Mass, and actual Church teaching as defined in the Catechism—so, I don’t go to those.
 
Agreed about the traditionalist forums - despite the name they aren’t actually defending any actual tradition, but a specific version of what they think is traditionalism, and call everything they disagree with or that’s wrong (or both) to be modernist, even though modernism is a very specific heresy with a very specific meaning (i.e. religion is just a matter of subjective feelings, we can’t know objective truth as it is in itself, Hegelianism etc.), not any example of lukewarmness or error you can think of that’s relatively recent.

You reminded me of all the commenters in r/CatholicMemes 🤣 when you read them, you get the impression that they began practising Catholicism yesterday and they just repeat what other trendy Catholics say.
 
Yeah. I mean, I won’t fault them for being teenagers! And zeal isn’t a bad thing (though it has to be tempered with prudence and wisdom), and these teens are definitely in a healthier starting place than I was as a teen, simply by being Catholic.

But they’re still teenagers and it can get exhausting to continuously interact with. It’s one thing to pop in with some (minor) wisdom from a few years ahead; it’s another to consider oneself ‘part’ of that online community.

I personally need to talk with other adults, haha.

Anyway my CAF experience has.been spiritually beneficial and many members have a place in my heart forever and may we all meet in Heaven one day, promise?
I plan this to be my last post on CAF because I am emotional and prolongued goodbyes will make me cry.
Whatever happens in God’s hands.

New Traditional Catholic Forum Just Coming Online Traditional Catholicism
There is a brand new forum just getting off the ground called “Res Publica Christiana” or ‘The Republic’ for short. It was founded as a place online where Catholics can meet and discuss the Faith. All are welcome, but this site leans Traditional/Conservative. I have been a member here at CAF for over eight years, and have been a member at The Republic almost since day one, and I think that there are quite a few members here that would really like that site. I tried to register into St Isidore’s lounge, but I keep getting error message:

I have tried 3 different email addresses that I have, and the “forgot password” but can’t register.

Not criticizing your inclusion of this forum, but I would think the Association for Hebrew Catholics is a very specialized forum catering mainly to…well, Hebrew Catholics or those Jews thinking of becoming Catholic.
