Working on humility

How can I tell if I’m going in the correct direction to be more humble?
 
Not enough info.
To be humble is to not seek praise. To think of others above yourself To do things without reward on the radar. Relax, Be a good Catholic. Pray. Show simple kindnesses to others. Spend time in Adoration contemplating the Lord.
All will be well.

someone said to me this morning. kindness is free, showing kindness is free.
 
You can always pray to God and ask for an increase in humility, and the ability to be more humble.

I think that any time that we ask for these things that allow us to be a better person and increase in any type of a virtue, He’ll answer those prayers for us.

I have seen that happen in myself, for example.
 
I pray the Litany of Humility daily as well the Rosary and Divine Mercy Chaplet . I attend daily Mass. Due to circumstances, I’m only able to spend an hour in Adoration weekly.

But I feel I should be doing more.

St. Philip Neri recommends the frequent good usage of the Sacrament of Confession as the most efficacious means to pursue humility.

It’s hard…

It’s our human nature to want to think of what we want, and to think of our will first, and not what God wills for us, or what God wants for us.

I personally noticed some character traits or flaws in myself that I wasn’t liking, and that I felt could definitely be improved.

So, that is when I made a deliberate choice to put myself in God’s hands, and I asked Him for help, and that is when I definitely noticed things start to change for the better–when I asked Him for help and asked Him to make me a better person.

What are those sayings…?

“God can do what we can’t do,” and then, “All things are possible with God.” 🙂
 
Yes. That helps a lot. I go every two weeks. I need the Lord’s help very much along with the Blessed Mother’s.

Can you give an example of one taking pride in humility? If you say you are humble, then you are not, yes?

A truly profoundly humble person cannot see or truly admit their own humility. “Let another praise thee, and not thy own mouth: a stranger, and not thy own lips.” (Prov 27:2, vulg.) The nature of their perception sees that claims of self-love present profound falsehood. Embarrassment occurs, and they know that they have not deserved the praise.

This is something I am seeking too ATM. I thank a gorgeous friend whose humility wraps around her like a cloak, for showing me truly humble character
