So I don’t have a job that requires me to work on Sunday, though if I ever had to take a job and they told me to work that day, given that I have a family to support, I am not sure what I would do.

I also refuse to buy anything and mostly avoid travel (buying gas and fastfood) on Sunday, but I am the only one in my extended family that does this which means everyone tends to have a grudge from time to time.

Just looking for thoughts and advice and any other way to spin this in a positive manner with others. Also, to those that work on Sunday, or have thought about it; is there a Church teaching on this, what do you do?

Allow time for rest, relaxation recreation and quality time with family on another day.
You don’t ahve servants, It’s about servile work.

I asked a priest once about this and was told that if asked it was OK to come in.

My job does not require Sunday work as a rule but there may be situations that do.

I would try not to take a job where Sunday work was typically required in a non emergency services context. I would ask for my schedule to allow me to attend Mass and other than that work as required.

I do try to avoid shopping etc on Sunday but I have gone to restraunts with family on a couple of occasions. The CCC seems to allow this.

I meant to clarify, I would of course still buy medicine etc. or If I were a police officer or something I would still work, knowing it was simply necessary for someone to do it.

I work every Sunday from 1400-2300. I keep my Day as holy as possible by going to mass with my wife (when she goes, sometimes by myself). I also use Wednesday (my second off day) as my “Sunday”. I get up early, go to mass, and spend the day as if it were Sunday.
