Hi, I try not to work on Sunday, however it appears that this weekend I have a lot of homework (that is urgent)… would it be sinful to do it on Sunday, after church?

thanks

As long as you make time for God on Sunday by fulfilling your obligation to attend Mass you are fine. The minute work gets in the way of that I would worry. There is nothing wrong with doing work on Sundays if you need to.

I have always believed that working on Sunday is wrong when it is for purely monetary gain and when we do this it offends God,but Jesus said that the Sabbath was made for man not the other way round,so it is prudent to remember that as we labour for 6 days we do need a rest from work so we can be in a state of mind body and spirit to worship and meditate on the God Who made us, without distractions.
Having said this there are of course times when we must do domestic things for we are not like the Jews under the Old Testament Sabbath which they took to the extreme forbading even the washing of cups etc,so it is a matter of giving due time to God especially by attending holy Mass and if we are obliged by duty to do manual things such as housework(for the benefit of others) or indeed homework then we may do these things too,for me the bottom line is that while we should obey the Sabbath rest concerning work we must also be on our guard of going to the extreme of making the Sabbath a virtual prison. 🙂

You sound very devout and concerned about your faith. Studying is bettering yourself - not your pocket. Keep God in your studies. Pray to Him before and after and offer your studies to Him. No matter what you are studying, you can vow to use it for for the betterment of His Church - someway, some how.
