Could you explain a bit more. I’m not quite sure what you mean. (in relation to this for example)

Kinda of difficult to explain salvation with works. But works is pretty much of an automatic things most believers will execise. The more we’re connected to God in spirit, the more works we do to serve his kingdom…you will realize it yourself, you have more passion to serve the poor and needy, something which you won’t even or perhaps won’t even bother when you’re not a believer.

This question concerns the Protestant belief of Sola Fida. If works are not integral in justification, then why are we to be judged based upon our works?

Ref. Revelations 20:12 “And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.”

I’m just curious as to how this apparent dichotomy can be defended.

Protestants argue that from true faith emanate good works. It still falls back to faith.

If someone receives a deathbed baptism, doesn’t Catholic doctrine say that all his previous sins are forgiven with no punishment? Temporal punishment only accrues to sins committed after baptism.

yes… but i was talking about someone who just repents, is not baptized…

maybe the works “quandry” can be summed up like this:

If you were in love and got married… and soon after the wedding, your spouse just got really lazy… never told you he loved you, never did anything to make your life better, never even spent time with you… Well… if you left… and the person repented… or SAID he repented… You wouldn’t just… let him back into your life and heart and mind… without… changing… (Purgatory)…

In other words: how can you say you love someone (God) if you don’t do anything that person likes…
