World did not end on Sept. 23rd

There’s so many natural disasters happening right now, and I’ve been hearing rumors about the world ending on September 23rd. I’m having nearly panic attacks over the fact that I still have mortal sin that I need to confess, and I usually go on Saturdays, which is the 23rd.

I feel like I’m going to break down. I don’t know if this would go in Spirituality or World News but I’m very scared and I’m not at all close to Our Lord at all, and I’ve been pretty separate from him these past several months - now talk of the world ending makes me feel like I’m doomed to go to Hell.

We cannot, no one can predict when the world will end as Jesus comes back. God said so Himself. Only God knows.

I read a good statement about the hype of Saturday

A non theory by a non expert about a non event.

Be at Peace.

Go to Mass, go To Reconcilliation. As usual.

Every time I hear a prediction I give a sigh of relief. God said that we know not the hour of the day, so the more specific and frequent the nutters get, the more I am confident that we are no where near end times.

Ps NASA says no such planet event is about to happen. No planet about to do a stellar drive by.

The non theory involves a planet that was supposed to have aliens that populated earth, it’s going to crash into us , or pass near , and cause all sorts of alien tragedies.

This is a very pagan non theory.

Not exactly how Jesus is going to return . He is going to appear in clouds with Angels. No planet drive bys needed

Are you really 14? Go to confession, say your prayers and go to bed.
Everything will be ok. There is no one alive who knows when the world is ending. All you have to do is be ready. 😇
 
While I think the posts going around about the “Revelation sign” are interesting to read, and this configuration might well portend something, I doubt it’s going to be the end of the world. God will decide when the world ends, and He’s probably not going to give bloggers an advance notice.
 
Wait, you’re 14?

Get off conspiracy sites, get your news from reliable sources, and play Minecraft or pursue some other hobby much healthier for your mind. It is understandable that this is frightening or overwhelming because people are taking advantage of MANY who lack the education, knowledge and life experiance.

I’m not trying to say “go away child and play” but that these sorts of articles are created to warp minds and insert fear and that at your age it is likely to put you at a severe disadvantage.

Now this is more of an actual worry. Whether the world ends or not, WE will all come to an end, and wouldn’t you rather be closer to Our Lord before that happens?
Go to confession, then get some good meals, naps, Masses and prayer time in. Ask Our Lord and the Blessed Mother and St. Joseph to help relieve your fear.
 
I was only guessing. I’ve come to see that many people who put a number in their screen name that isn’t likely a birth year, is likely their age. But I don’t know for sure. 😄

There will be signs, but as you say, those signs are not going to tell us the exact date of the end.
We can know the times and the seasons, but it is not given us to know the day nor the hour.

Every time I hear these famous world predictions, I actually breathe a sigh of relief because they’re most likely wrong, and we most likely get another day to reconcile with the Lord.
 
YES, go to confession! NO, don’t believe the world is going to end on the 23rd!
 
Hello Camillus 14, I would not be too concerned. We do not know the day or the hour. Anytime someone gives you a date you can ignore it. All that silliness started with a fellow named Miller in the United States. I think it was in the mid 18’00’s. Nothing happened on his doomsday date so he changed it. He did this several times. Other of his ilk still make these predictions. Anyone that believes in the “rapture” are in one way or another a follower of Miller.

Please be at peace, Camillus14.

Periodically a person or group will predict the word’s end on a certain day…and the many past proved untrue.

You may not be close to the Lord, but He is close to you, Your current fear, just use that as a means to begin to be close to Him.

Turn to Him and speak to Him about everything in your heart and life,
and find the courage to go to Confession soon.
You will be uplifted to feel how free-ing that is.

That you are fearful may be a grace from God, a call to come close to Him and to live your life as He desires.

Jesus says to us in Luke 15
4 'Which one of you with a hundred sheep, if he lost one, would fail to leave the ninety-nine in the desert and go after the missing one till he found it?

5 And when he found it, would he not joyfully take it on his shoulders

6 and then, when he got home, call together his friends and neighbours, saying to them, “Rejoice with me, I have found my sheep that was lost.”

7 In the same way, I tell you, there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner repenting than over ninety-nine upright people who have no need of repentance.

That is how Jesus feels about you.

If neither the angels nor Jesus (at least, in his human nature) know when the world will end, we can be assured that mere mortals who make up doomsday predictions have no idea. Don’t waste a second worried about what they say.

Come back here on Sept. 24, read this thread, mentally note that they were wrong (as they have been for many centuries of doomsday predictions) and remember this the next time you come across this kind of garbage 🙂

Mark 13:31-33: “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away. But of that day or hour, no one knows, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be watchful! Be alert! You do not know when the time will come.”

The Cure of Ars would always tell mothers of people who committed suicide, that there was still time before one hit the ground to change ones heart.

You still have time, and I’m praying for you. Just pray. If you can’t focus, utter small ejaculations throughout the day. God’s grace will meet you at your need; all you have to do is accept it.
 
I don’t believe the world will end either. I am though concerned that we may soon (not the 23rd necessarily) be in for at least a minor chastisement…

If you’ve never heard of Our Lady of Revelation, it’s really good. 1947 Italy, Tre Fontaine. (No end of world stuff or anything like that). But they’re good. 7 part series by Sensus Fidelium on youtube.
 
This is good advice from Tis_Bearself, and this is what I would do anyway, @Camillus14.

Try not to worry about these kinds of things. There is always some kind of story like this that is out there on the Internet. We could get ourselves into a panic constantly, if we read about all of them.

I had never heard of it, so I brought up the videos so that I could take a look at them on Fr. Chad’s channel when I get a chance! 🙂
