World did not end on Sept. 23rd

People trying to sell something. That’s what I think when I read or hear 'the end has come".

Besides there are still wars and Jesus said we wouldn’t even be hearing of rumours of war when the time comes.

Matt:28 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars; see that you are not alarmed; for this must take place, but the end is not yet.
 
C-14,

here’s a Bible verse that may help:
  • Phillipians 4:6: Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
and:
  • Mark 13:7-8: “When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be frightened; those things must take place; but that is not yet the end. “For nation will rise up against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; there will be earthquakes in various places; there will also be famines. These things are merely the beginning of birth pangs"
In Mark, Jesus refers to wars, earthquakes, famines. These have been happening since He was here on earth, many worse than what we are experiencing now. The End Times have been upon us for 2,000 years, there’s no one who can say that this coming Saturday will be the last day of these End Times.

I wish you peace, C-14, I really do. But only the Spirit can grant you real and true peace. I will pray that you will continue to develop your relationship with God. Do not be afraid to grow closer to Him. Go to Him in Confession and be embraced by his loving Mercy. In those times when you cannot approach Him you may wish to turn to his Mother and ask for her intercession. One of the best ways to get to know Jesus is to ask his Mother for help because she knows Him best.

C-14, be at peace.
 
The Lord also said that those having eyes to see, can know when He is near - at the very gates:
Mt 24:32 "From the fig tree learn its lesson: as soon as its branch becomes tender and puts forth its leaves, you know that summer is near.
Mt 24:33 So also, when you see all these things, you know that he is near, at the very gates.

After reading these conspiracy and disaster sites for a while, and reading back to some previous things, they lose credibility rapidly.

I’ve been caught up in a bunch of things only to have people from 2000 miles away and who where weren’t there start posting how they were made up.

There are a lot of very strange people with total ignorance who comment on things they know nothing about.

While playing tourist, I used to take tours of places where movies were made and how the movie producers and directors faked the disasters.

One should always make an act of perfect contrition privately pending getting to indivitual confession. That is if you can get perfect contrition.
 
I remember when everyone was raving on about the world ending on 12-12-12. The end of the Mayan calendar. I thought it was an interesting idea but I didn’t take it seriously. Besides, that was the date when the first Hobbit movie was supposed to come out in theaters. That would have just been cruel.

LOL. December 21, 2012 was just the end of one repetition of the Mayan Calandar, i.e., the 13th Bak’tun of a long cycle (which started 3114 BCE). The Mayan belief is that another cycle (about 5125 years) begins.

When I was about that age there were two signs that the world was going to end:
The first: The popes’ burial crypt was running out of room, and when the last spot was filled up the world would end.
The second: A Pole had just been elected pope, which one girl’s grandmother told her meant the end was near.
 
A the time, I thought granny must’ve been joking and the girl probably misunderstood. 😄
 
When my son was about 5 he was really worried that the world was going to end. Scientifically speaking, that is, in a few billion years.
His biggest concern was summed up with one question: “Will there be adults there?”
 
I wish people would stop tying to predict the end of the world. I’m 29 and I’ve been through, on average, two end of the worlds per year. Yet, here we are.

You can see a priest at any time and ask him for the sacrament of reconciliation. We are ALL one heartbeat from eternity. One heartbeat away from the end of the world.
 
+1 Adam…it only upsets people and has no bearing on reality. I suppose if it prompts some to go to confession that could be a plus, but it’s awful to live in fear. Not worth it in the long run. God has everything under control How easily we tend to forget that! GOd bless you, hope you are well Adam!
 
Thank you everyone for the replies. And although my name title is misleading (though I did make this account when I was 14), I’m 15. I haven’t been on the conspiracy sites myself in a long time, but some of my friends have and they’ve told me about it - fortunately for them, they were laughing about it and not taking it really seriously. I didn’t expect to be so anxious about it, but here I am.

I’ll try to remember in the future to not worry so and hopefully I’ll be able to come back speedily to Christ. God bless. ^ ^;;
 
Your fear is from the devil. We can only overcome fear by meditating on Christ’s ever-present love for us. I recommend meditating on Christ’s love in each detail of the crucifixion; see His love in each fall, each wound, every word of desperation that He speaks while in the process of being crucified. Meditate upon a physical crucifix. And say the Chaplet of Divine Mercy at 3:00 every day. Please, please read the diary of Saint Faustina and see how much Christ is overflowing in merciful love for you, for He knows the number of hairs on your head and holds you in the palm of His hand. Be at peace, child. Have you gone through something traumatic when you were younger that might be causing you to obsess over this?

I started a thread about asteroids and the world ending which was shut down. I do NOT want to derail this thread but ONE question: only the Father knows when the world will end, but does that mean that scientists who study asteroids also don’t know when the world will end?

No, they don’t because they don’t know enough about any known asteroid to know it will hit the earth for sure.
