I don’t feel fear when I see the Twin Towers on screen. I just feel an enormous sense of sadness for all that was lost and what used to be. I never saw the TT except from an airplane, In fact, the last time I saw them was a year before 9/11 and it was the most marvelous scene. A full moon rising, and Manhatten Island with the TT all lit up. I treasure that memory. ( A month after 9/11 I found a matchbox from the Windows of the World - the resturant at the top of the South Tower. Sad)

That sounds like a beautiful monument. Do you know if there are any pictures of it on the web? I’d love to see it.

Maggie

Contents of post deleted because they are vitriolic and add no value to the conversation. Let this be a warning to those of you who do not take me seriously when I tell you to tone down the rhetoric. - Peter Wright]

Hey, Folks,
Let’s not turn this thread into a diatribe for/against Bush. We all have our own opinions. Let’s just remember and honor those who died.

Peace,
Linda

Mr. Fitz, Obviously you are an admirier of and deluded by the Bush Regime propanganda. Do you watch Fox News a lot? Sounds just like them! !
These type of criticisms are not allowed for your information, and Mr. Fitz would be my husband.

Bartholomew:
You can change if you just open your closed little mind!
This type of criticism is also not allowed. I am entitled to my opinion and this needed to be pointed out since we are remembering the WTC and what it reminded us of.

I totally agree. 👍

I don’t think you should shudder in fear. That would mean that the terrorist won.

It was really sad.

I agree with Fitz. How on Earth is this GW’s fault?

We were warned that this fight would be a long and difficult road. Many will not commit to anything in this country- church attendance, marriage, a job, raising children Etc. We can see why they are dropping out of this.

Only the dead have seen the end of war.

Me too, I was fully wakened by the attacks. I shudder not only when I see the towers, but when I see any building with the name, World Trade Center. There are SO many of them! there’s one in houston, one in Vancouver, Creepy.

I still shake with fear whenever I see the Twin Towers in a movie. To me it’s like seeing the Black Monolith of Death. Does anyone else still shudder like this?
I am shaken when I don’t see the twin towers in new movies.

I am shaken to deeper resolve to fight terrorism.

When I see the Twin Towers in older movies, It makes me want to stand at attention to honor NYC and her fallen citizens and heroes.
I cant’ get used to it. I was watching “Hitch” the a few nights ago, and in the beginning of the movie I actually said “What city was used for this film’s location?” A few minutes into the movie I realized it was NYC and it was a stark reminder. Very sad. For the American who doesn’t see the changed skyline everyday, it can still be shocking. I don’t need to see footage of the Towers falling down and people jumping out of windows to be reminded of the fear and extreme pain of that day, but for Americans who seem to forget, yeah they need to be reminded. We cannot allow ourselves to forget that it CAN happen again. Similar attacks will happen again if we aren’t willing to make the sacrifices to rid terrorism wherever it breeds. Americans who want to turn this into a political debate are missing the point.

My church has a cross made from steel from the WTC. Sometimes I like to just stand in front of it, touch it, and think about what happened that day. I’ll never forget it.

I’m more upset by the fact that Turner Movies edits them out of old films. I grew up in Jersey City NJ, right across the harbor, and not only could see them all the time, but frequently rode the “Tubes” the old New York Trans Hudson line, now renamed the “PATH” for Port Authority Trans Hudson line. The Towers were built around it’s downtown terminal, litterally. The old building was torn down and the basement of the Tower built around the station, without taking it out of service. The building of the Towers was part of my childhood. While writing a thesis, I supported myself driving limos. Had I not moved to Wisconsin to continue my studies, my schedule would have placed me directly under the Towers when the planes hit. Who is this man Turner to erace so much of my life as though it was never there? Who is he to get the “unpleasant memories” of those we loved and lost out of sight?
