Do any of you know if Tim Staples is going to the WYD in Spain this year? I would love to see him live…

the Dane.

I think the writer takes a few words and takes them to the extreme. While I can somewhat see his point on all of the other issues,( I strongly agree with her view on the books view of masturbation) his last three points strike a nerve

It is obvious that the writer is a literal 6 day young earth creationist. How anyone can read what he has said and not see that will blow my mind. That said:

my take on his response with Scripture:
The Bible isn’t for precise scientific discoveries. That part is absolutely correct. I do not believe in literal six days of creation, I don’t believe the planets rotate the sun, I don’t believe that anyone lived for almost 1000 years either, and that we’ve been lowering average lifespans ever sense. I believe in intelligent design evolution, such as that has been sanctioned by the Church. If that makes me a heretic so be it. I do believe that the Biblical writers were products of their age. If the Holy Spirit could have explained the Big Bang (with God as the guide) Im sure it would have. The fact is, the Biblical writers couldn’t understand it if God told them exactly how it was. It had to be written to terms that made sense to the writers.

The writer did mention something that caught my eye: "the Pontifical Biblical Commission said in 1909 under Pope St. Pius X when the question of how to interpret the “days” of Genesis was posed:

Question VIII: Whether in that designation and distinction of six days, with which the account of the first chapter of Genesis deals, the word (“days”) can be assumed either in its proper sense as a natural day, or in the improper sense of a certain space of time; and whether with regard to such a question there can be free disagreement among exegetes?

Reply: In the affirmative."

If this is true, wouldn’t that make this dogma? Which makes my view of Genesis heretical?

In the topic of Uniformitarianism, while I don’t agree completely with “YouCat”, I strongly disagree that everything in the world was perfect for animals in general until Original sin occured. For humans, sure, Ill agree that until we proved ourselves (name removed by moderator)erfect, that we didn’t have birth defects, and planned on having extremely long lives. However, for animals, I see no problem with why they couldn’t have birth defects and such before hand.

So in conclusion, while the writer has some good points, he eventually commits fallacy by saying, just because YouCat is wrong, he is right. 👍

I have heard from fairly reliable sources that the Watchtower branch will be sending 30-40specially trained “brothers” all under 26 years of age to infiltrate the festivities in Madrid and hand out their literature. I’m sure this has been done at WYD’s before by other denominations, but I thought I’d put it out there so others in Europe can warn as many as possible. I guess the “sting” will be to “innocently” ask what the gathering is all about and then spring their pitch. If I hear more, I’ll post it on this site. Let’s pray for the Catholic youth attending to stand firm in their faith, as I’m sure they’ll be other anti Catholic movements as well trying to lure them away.

The thing that bugs me the most about this is that JW’s get bent out of shape when “apostates” show up at their assemblies and conventions, and yet they’ll attempt this. If the above info is in fact true, the hypocrisy of that religion never ceases to amaze me…

“God, our Father, we thank You for the gift of love and the gift of life. We thank
you for the gift of our children. We ask You to send Your holy angels to protect
and guide them each day so that they will walk the narrow path of purity, selfcontrol
and obedience, as was taught to us by Your own Son, Jesus Christ. We ask
this through Jesus Christ our Lord, in union with the Holy Spirit. Amen.”

Our Lady of Guadalupe . . . pray for our youth.

St. Michael . . . pray for our youth.

St. Charles Borromeo . . . pray for our youth.
Aaaahh…Intelligence…nice! I am not shocked one bit with the JW’s. And you are right, when others to show up at their conventions they get all bent out-of-shape,but it is okay for them to ruin other faiths conventions? That is so wrong!
