Which I gladly accept from my Clergy and trained Laity.
Not some 20-year-old kids who criticize said clergy and laity and think they know it all.
If you only gain theological knowledge, doctrine, and law from clergy and trained laity then you must lack greatly. Unless you are in an area with very few Catholics, you could never obtain great theological knowledge from clergy, for they have far less the amount of time required to help one master theology. If you do not study theology individually you could not possibly hope to master its many schools and complexities. Scripture and Tradition only encourages us to constantly desire God and to always desire to know God, to grow in our relationship with God.
By your definition, however, we must only seek knowledge of God, or theology, from the clergy and trained laity. While the religious have a duty to spread the Gospel and to teach theology, they only encourage the laity to do the same in life. You need to realize the vertical relationship with God, between God and man, as well as the horizontal, which is Christ’s Church.
And honestly, why are you even a member on an online Catholic forum, if you do not want to discuss and debate matters of the Church, which will always involve theology, with 20 year old kids and “know-it-alls”. Your charity is lacking greatly, especially when you assume arrogance on members of this forum, simply because they disagree with your viewpoints, and have shared horrible experiences with certain heretical clergy, which, by the way, do exist.
