Hi Everyone,
As you can probably tell, i already live in Sydney and im counting down the days to WYD and spending time with all the Catholics coming from places far and wide.
Im looking forward to having so many guests come to my home town soon. So im wondering, who from this forum is coming?

Ooh a few for me definitely. Along with a big hunk of dead cow or pig as well, of course.

I live in a tiny apartment, no room for a barbie on my balcony 😦

sending you a busload from Texas, they are very picky about shrimp being so close to the Gulf, and they will bring the tortillas, beans and salsa. (the busload will be transported by plane to Oz, obviously). You will find them among the nicest, courteous most well brought up American kids you will ever meet.

We won’t confess that we actually call shrimp “prawns” as no one would know what we’re talking about!!

Oh they will do just fine with our awesome Aussie seafood, no worries. 👍

Tortillas, beans and salsa? 'Sif! This ain’t Texas, mate. :nope:

You’ll be having regular (but very nice, fresh from the bakery) bread, bean salad and tomato salad. 😛

It might be a suburb of Melbourne, we’re spending a week there before WYD. If you can’t tell, I’ve never been to Australia before 😃

Me? nah, I live in a handkerchief-sized one-bedroom flat, no room for a goldfish much less a guest.

We have land down under restaurant near us called The Outpost, the menu reads what ever you want on the barbie.
The first time we had an onion blossom 👍 In fact they probably brought the recipe to America.
Keep us posted can’t wait to watch it.

Hate to tell you this - onion blossom is NOT an Australian dish. You come here and ask for it no-one will know what you’re talking about, in fact I’m not even sure I do except I imagine it’s the same thing as the ‘blooming onion’ in the Outback steakhouses (which is also not an Australian dish).

Yeah i was wondering what it was as well?
Next time im in the states, im going to pop into this restaurant and ask them what it is, they will be most surprised when they hear my accent 😃

I hope you won’t be bringing all that Texan food - it will be all confiscated by Australian quarantine officiers who I must warn you all are very strict!!

Yes it is the outback I was referring to, well that is the first place we ate one. I kind of thought it wasn’t Australian, but the restaurant is of course decorated with the like. What is the favorite dish?
