World Youth Day

Hello,

I am interested in trying to organize a group of people to go to World Youth Day. I am not planning to attend the one in Brazil this summer because it is coming too soon for me to organize anything, so I know that I can’t really start planning until after that one is over but just for future reference… could anybody tell me how exactly one would go about planning this? I have some priests who might be interested in being chaplains and could definitely find enough people to form a group, but I am not sure how to go about with the logistics. If anybody could give me any advice on this, I would really appreciate it. Thank you!

Wait to find out where and when it is being held.

Usually, WYD is triennial, ie the next would take place in 2016. The last, however, was two years ago.

The where and when will be announced at the Papal Mass in Rio.

(After all, you can’t really announce to fundraise for “WYD, year and city unknown”

)

The city will give you a sense of the costs involved, ie, when it came to Sydney four years ago, fewer people went because it was farther and costlier to travel.

The logistics will depend to a great extent on the city it is in. WYD has a website, which will provide insight as to how pilgrim groups can be organized.
