Worried that I'll never find anyone

I’m pretty much resigned to the single life. I’ve done the dating bit both online and in the real world as well as getting out and about. I’m burned completely burned out. I still seem to meet the same type of guys…commitment phobics, players or divorced. As I can’t date a divorced guy that kind of limits my options to 0. Of course I’m in my late 30s so that makes it even harder. I’ve pretty much put myself on the not dating list. It doesn’t seem worth the bother… I would like to have the kind of solid relationship my parents had and would love to have children and feeling the calling to do so but unless someone pretty spectacular shows up I’m not interested in even pursuing a relationship anymore. Especially since the guys I like aren’t interested in me and vice versa. But I guess that’s just life.
🤷 😊
How about giving those you aren’t interested in initially a chance? I do know of people who eventually fell in love with and married people who they weren’t attracted to initially. They are very happy now and are very glad they gave it a shot.

If you are meant to meet somebody one day then you will. Sometimes when you are looking for something so badly you never find it but when you let go and let God guide you then things some how work out.

You will meet somebody one day. And if you don’t it is not the end of the world. Don’t make yourself miserable and unhappy worrying about something that you have no control over. When the right person comes along then so be it.

I was married for 12 years and am now divorced.(it has been a few months). And I said to somebody a good friend of mine that I know that I will never meet somebody as who is going to want a divorced woman with two kids and on top of it a overweight woman of 33 years old. And I said to her and I must just except that I am going to be alone for the rest of my life.

Then she told me to read Isaiah 54

1 “Sing, O barren woman, you who never bore a child; burst into song, shout for joy, you who were never in labor; because more are the children of the desolate woman than of her who has a husband,” says the Lord. 2 "Enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back; lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes. 3 For you will spread out to the right and to the left; your descendants will dispossess nations and settle in their desolate cities. 4 "Do not be afraid; you will not suffer shame. Do not fear disgrace; you will not be humiliated. You will forget the shame of your youth and remember no more the reproach of your widowhood. 5 For your Maker is your husband-- the Lord Almighty is his name-- the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer; he is called the God of all the earth.

6 The Lord will call you back as if you were a wife deserted and distressed in spirit-- a wife who married young, only to be rejected," says your God. 7 “For a brief moment I abandoned you, but with deep compassion I will bring you back. 8 In a surge of anger I hid my face from you for a moment, but with everlasting kindness I will have compassion on you,” says the Lord your Redeemer. 9 “To me this is like the days of Noah, when I swore that the waters of Noah would never again cover the earth. So now I have sworn not to be angry with you, never to rebuke you again. 10 Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,” says the Lord, who has compassion on you.

11 "O afflicted city, lashed by storms and not comforted, I will build you with stones of turquoise, your foundations with sapphires. 12 I will make your battlements of rubies, your gates of sparkling jewels, and all your walls of precious stones. 13 All your sons will be taught by the Lord, and great will be your children’s peace. 14 In righteousness you will be established: Tyranny will be far from you; you will have nothing to fear. Terror will be far removed; it will not come near you. 15 If anyone does attack you, it will not be my doing; whoever attacks you will surrender to you. 16 “See, it is I who created the blacksmith who fans the coals into flame and forges a weapon fit for its work. And it is I who have created the destroyer to work havoc; 17 no weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and this is their vindication from me,” declares the Lord.

One day you will meet somebody but let God show you the way let him guide in the right direction. Just be patient. Let God be your everything.

Robaynne, all I can say is…WOW!!!:angel1: That’s exactly what I needed to hear today.

At 34 I’m feeling the same way as the OP, and seeing as I’m not even Catholic yet (RCIA struggles…long story, but probably won’t be crossing the Tiber until '09) I don’t feel I could date a nice Catholic man (if I could knew of one, not even looking right now) in good conscience. That’s probably my own hangup, but I’d rather get “home” on my own steam and then find someone versus dating and it being perceived as if I was joining for him. My 1 Catholic friend (5 states away) said that he’d prayed the Rosary and asked Mary to help him find someone, he also cautioned to watch out 'cause it will happen so make sure you’re ready! 🙂

Edited to add: I think that’s another one of those “where did that verse come from!?!” instances that I’ve come across since I’ve been working my way Home. That’s #5 now, and after 20+ years of reading and studying the Bible…weird and wonderful at the same time. :hmmm:
